Superchips Flashpaq???
I've done a similar mod to a couple trucks to see the difference because I had a couple of 3.5" UPR Power Pipes($120), laying around the shop. Except I removed the whole assembly and hacked off the silencers, fiberglassed the holes, sanded it down smooth and painted black. Pop off the end of the pipe where the flex begins and the UPR pipe fits over the end perfect with a hose clamp. Instead of going out the fender, it turns down and straight fwd through the hole under the headlight and fold in the factory flexible air deflector and it will redirect the air directly into the pipe(Ram Air). Fits perfect and the pipe looks as if it were made for the truck. That and a K&N and it looks great and very clean.

ok well reading all of that, since i have the flashpaq by superchips, if i were to go with a new cold air intake, would i need a tune? or is it only for those few tuners? i did change my shifting points and noticed a great deal of difference in the feeling of them. before i could barely hear my truck shift, no i can hear and feel it!

I have the Superchips Flash Paq coupled with a KN CAI, and magnaflow catback exhaust...I love it! Definately worth the money (for me). I can chirp the tires from 1-2 finally, and as long as I keep my foot out of her, I have noticed an increase of 1.5 MPG on average. Its hard to keep my foot out of her now a days though.
I recently purchased a Superchips tuner (1865) for my 01, 5.4 screw, 2WD w/ CIA and Gibson catback, 3:55 gear. I initially installed the 87 octane tune, and I really liked how it ran - firmer shifts, nice throttle response.
Day 2 - I adjusted it to account for the non-stock tires. I am running 265/70/17 on stock rims. Unfortunately, it hasn't run much better than stock since the adjustment. I expected some change from the stock tire height of 28" to 31" - but, it's terrible. The speedometer is off as well
I ran the tank all but out of gas - filled up with 93 octane and loaded the performance tune - Still no difference.
Would the 3 inch difference in tire size affect performance that much? Maybe my expectations are too high? Had it not run so well on the initial tune - I probably wouldn't notice the drastic change.
Frankly, if this is as good as it gets - I really don't think it's worth the money.

Superchips is the best way to go, Flashpaq1865 is whats offered now, I have the 1815, the best part is, if you purchase the flashpaq, all other tuner options are free for download, including the most recent mileage xs tune, I have an 03 ex cab, 281 auto, I just downloaded the recent tune for the xs, which is guaranteed 25% mileage increase, instead of 10% of the recent application. It will only set you back 379.00, hit the website up, read the articles and tech news recently posted, you will be thoroughly happy with the Flaspaq. You can also download the Data aquisition programs at no charge also, which will let you check and clear trouble codes, top speed and all trap times, shift points are adjustable for Wot settings and shift pressures can be reset. I hope this helps, I've used this programmer since August last year, and can Say, I love it. I also changed to the E3 plugs through Jegs, and the 4" cold air kit from Spectre speed. I'm anxious to see the mileage increase from the new upload, I'll keep you posted .
Ok, so what are the pros over Superchips? I would like to know from someone who has it, I listed what the Flaspaq does, and all other programs that run 349 and more are free to download. So what benefits do you get? Not to mention the 25 years of production behind superchips.

I enjoy the superchips tuner, maybe I'll give Edge a try one day. I just have to see what my new update is gonna do for me before I make change, 25% increase in economy sounds good for right now, 374 miles is what I average per tank, thats the best I've gotten so far, but the xs save program promises more, so I'll see if it will deliver.
What is the "custom" tunes you all speak of? I can customize mine... Shift points, pressure, avaialbility to tow more than 6000 lbs, or get the best mileage when not towing, tire size, gear ratio, speed limiter cuttoff, rpm limiter, and it automatically optimises the air fuel ratio, more spark duration adn atomization of the fuel for better performance. what more can you do with the Edge, noone has given specifics... What does it do for you??? I am at 17.845 mpg right now, I drive the basic of the models, other than the V-6. I have a 3.08 ratio, with alloy axles, the truck is stock except for the cheap upgrades I've done

I average my mileage after 5 tanks, My driving habits fluctuate, plus I spend alot of time in dallas. My tune stays at 87, but do have the option to change to 91, but the problem is, noone around here sells 91 octane..lol

After further research, 449.10 is the price for the Edge 15050 programmer.
379.00 for the Flashpaq 1865.... Even the cortex tuner is cheaper..Dollars and cents... So I can only imagine the amount of markup from a retailer.

https://www.superchips.com/default.a...=true&vfid=578
Here are the numbers, and Edge only offers one product, Superchips offer is three.
I find the following interesting as well.

There are stipulations with product software Edge has listed. The only stipulation with Superchips is, plug in and download.
