If you want to buy a custom tuned programmer, go with a PHP Gryphon, VMP or Troyer Xcal.

It is one of the preferred programmers for the Dodge Magnum Hemi. I bought one for mine and I like the result.

I don't know if he still works there but the former Ford transmission engineer who posted all the information on the 4R70W on the Thunderbird site went to work for Superchips. He is the one that came up with the J-mod.
I have had one on my truck for about 80k miles never had a problem and im happy with it but as has already been said I never tried custom tunes so maybe I dont know what im missing but I average 15 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, 16-18 mpg highway towing a loaded trailer 6'X12' 65-70 mph.

I think I got my $350 worth.
