Running too lean?

Aight, so as of late I have been running into threads that keep bringing up being lean with a Edge and a CAI.

I currently have a Edge with AirAid CAI and magnaflow custom side exit exhaust. It has crossed my mind a few times that I might be a little bit lean but what are some things I need to look for?

If you hear a pinging sound, you KNOW you are lean, but you can be lean without ever hearing it. The best way is a dyno tune. Second best is a custom tune.

It is firing at the wrong time and causing the piston to rattle sideways rather than be pushed straight down. This can cause piston, cylinder wall and ring damage. Basically, an early death for an engine.

If you were really running lean wouldnt the inside of your exhaust pipe be light gray or white.

The best way to accurately know is with an air/fuel ratio tester/meter.
From what I have read here there are only a couple of intakes that would draw too much air for the vehicle to compensate and most tuners richen up the mixture so if you have a tuner you are not going to be rich but...
with enough extreme mods to the exhaust and the intake anything is possible so then it would be worth the money to test on a dyno or air/fuel ratio tester.
