Anybody Tried a Superchips?

Has anybody tried a Superchips programmer and if so were you happy with it?

It is one of the preferred programmers for the Dodge Magnum Hemi. I bought one for mine and I like the result.

I don't know if he still works there but the former Ford transmission engineer who posted all the information on the 4R70W on the Thunderbird site went to work for Superchips. He is the one that came up with the J-mod.

I wouldn't waste money on a superchips programmer. The only route to go is custom tuning.

Hey Bud,
For the small price difference, go with custom tunes. Thats what I did. Besides, superchips is only for stock vehicles. Go to their website and you will find it in the fine print. Also, before I found this forum, I got suckered into buying one and it did work good until I put in a CAI then it ran like crap and my mpg went down alot. So go with a programmer that you can get custom tunes for such as gryphon, sct x3 or even diablosport. You will not be disapointed with custom tunes.

Go to their website, they have a forum. Spend some time on there and see what they are realy telling people. Even on this forum, the superchips guy has been asked about cai and he even stated that they do not have a program for the cai. As far as exhaust, they do not affect a tuner unless you go true duals or headers. Cat back exhaust don't change the program.

For some reason, people think Super Chip programmers are the best, it most be the word "super" that does it. The fact is that they are not so super. Of course they affect the way your truck feels and reacts, but no where near as much as a Gryphon, SCT, or even an EDGE.

Most of the time Super Chips sells their base programmer for way too much, then sell the module booster attachments to add onto the original programmer just so they can make a few hundred more dollars off of you.

Don't waste your time and money with these jokers. Do it right the first time and get either a VMP programmer, SCT programmer, Gryphon, or even an EDGE. In the end, you'll thank us.

On the superchips box that i used, it reccomended it. No they dont have a program for if you just have a cai or exhaust and thats not what i said, but you can read what it suggests it on the box of a flashpaq microtuner.

I am happy with my superchips programmer but, I have never had custom tunes so I don't know what I'm missing.

If I had to do it again, I'd go custom.

I was similar but different scenario. I had the Edge for 31,000 miles and thought I was happy. I ordered custom tunes from PHP and found out that I should not have been so content all that time. Custom tunes are the only way to go, even on a stock truck.

That's what everyone tells me.

I'll be ordering some custom tunes later this year.

Yes they put alot of bs on the box that the superchips comes in. On the box it even says you can get custom tunes; however, when you call, they will tell you that they don't do custom tunes. They advertise nothing but lies to get people to buy them and then your screwed. I was one of them and now I'm trying to keep others from getting screwed. So save yourself alot of money and trouble and go with a programmer that can be custom tuned. Even if you don't plan on getting custom tunes, you will still have that option.

I have a superchip in my 5.4 and liked it, but im about to order one that offers custom tunes. Sounds like it is a night and day difference. What is the best programmer for our trucks and how much does it cost for a custom tune.
