Edge tire size adjustment

I have been running the edge for about a month now and am very satisfied. However, the tire size adjustment does not seem to be sticking to where i set it. When set to stock, it is at 2476mm, which is wrong because I have the stock 275/65/18 on. It should be 2559mm. When I program to another level, I go in and adjust the tire size before installing the level. When I go back in to check the tire size, it has changed to 2356mm. I have tried several times and it does this same thing. Speedo is off 3 mph when on any of the levels and 2 mph when stock. This has all been checked with a GPS. Anybody have this same problem and have fixed it?

whenever i change my program, which isnt often, i change it then and dont do it again, every time you go into the tire size, it will show you the default. It works for me with the 4% squich factor. My GPS, EVO, and speedo are all within a MPH of each other. Just set it and forget it.

Like the second poster said, it does not show the new size just the default. AND, the only way the new size sticks is to do a CUSTOM setting, IE your using their stock tune but since your adding a different tire size its considered a custom tune. I just did mine last night, first time I set the truck to level 2, but for me, maybe their is an easier way I dunno, I had to reset the truck to level 0 (stock) then tune it with their level 2 tune but w/my custom tire size added....if that makes sense, and when it was done, my speedo was on track according to my tom tom.

Hope that helps.

Bamagrad, 2476 actually sounds about right to me. I have the same stock tires, and through trial and error found a value of 2481 was correct. (Notice that's only 5mm more than your stock setting). You don't want to use 2559, because that's the "unloaded" circumference which does not account for "squish", which reduces the distance traveled by the tire by about 3% in each revolution.

When you program your truck to a new level, if you don't "Load Previous Settings" as the first step in the "Custom Options" menu, the value 2356 is put into Tire Size (TS) as a "placeholder". It's also possible to get a bogus value for Gear Ratio (GR) too, although I always see 3.73 there, which is what I have. When you "Load Previous Settings", all previous "Option" values you put in the last time you reprogrammed your PCM are reloaded.

I have found though, that the TS value is not QUITE what I set it at, but has changed by 3-4mm. Bill Cohron at PHP explained this once as a "rounding" process that happens inside the Edge.

And finally, when you have the correct TS and GR set into the PCM, the dashboard speedo will always read about 3% fast (about 2 mph at 70 mph) because Ford set it that way! The odometer will be accurate though and, if you monitor speed on your Edge, you'll see that it agrees with your GPS.

Hope this helps.

It is normal for the truck speedo to be 2-3 moh fast. That is how Ford makes them. You have the option of setting your Edge?Gryphon to the correct speed or the truck speedo to the correct speed. If you do the truck, you will actually be going slightly slower than it says.

What is happening with the tire setting is normal. When you go back to reprogram, it resets to default. To get it to save your settings so you can review them or change just one, you have to select the option that saves yiour settings, and it won't come to mind right now. It's one of the last options that you can check. When you select it and hit done, all the parameters you have selected are retained until you reprogram one or all.

Yep, Jack just mentioned it. Load Previous Settings. I'm either getting old or he is well rested this morning, his post was first!
