In the 3 years I have been reading about Edge problems, that is a new one. Check your fuses.

You might also check the third brake light. If it's burned out, the cruise control won't work.

She does have a putco led third brake light in the truck would that make the truck think the the brake light is burnt out? Because we installed them at the same time.

Me too! Weird.

Now I'm trying to remember if I used cruise when my third brake light was burned out right out after the dealer had been working on it.

Why would it be that way? I don't get the connection between the cruise and third brake light. Tht is just weird to me.

To sense when the brake is being pushed? <-- I'm guessing, otherwise I'm just as clueless as to why the cruise wouldn't work.

I don't remember when or how I learned this, but I believe it's true. It's also possible that ANY brake light burned out will disable cruise, but I could be wrong.

It's controlled by the PCM in these trucks now, rather than a separate controller like we used to have.

What's worse, if ALL brake lights are out, you won't be able to get the truck's gearshift out of Park. (The shift interlock is disabled).

Installing LEDs with no load resistors can give similar problems, I think.

Well a light is really a resister in it's self. So since the third brake light is on the same ciruit as the cruise control (didn't know that) the reason it will not work with the light emitting diode is because the LED have a forward voltage drop of about 1.7mv a regular incandecent bulb will have a little more of a current draw. So
basically it thinks that there is a burt out bulb.

But Jack you are right, buy adding a resister of the correct value you will stop the problem.

Many have messed with the 3rd light and had brake light problems. Strange that this has not come to light earlier and often.

I already knew that about the 3rd brake light and cruise control.

I did learn about it through this site though.

If this is true about all the lights being burnt out or removed that you shouldn't be able to get it out of park, then I have a broken interlock. I had both tail lights and third brakelight removed at the same time.... then had to move my truck to let someone else in the drive way. I backed out and pulled back in just fine. Does this mean I have a problem?
