loosing my Edge!
loosing my Edge!
Whats up everyone. Listen I can not get this *** Edge software to work. I have downloaded Lighting exe, pluged into pc with USB cord and nothing. I cant get the dern Edge to do anything like change my tire size or do a custom tune. I know I havent updated the thing since 2007 but I had Windows XP then on my old PC. I got Windows Vista now and my first install of Lighting wouldnt work I called them and they sent a CD to me saying its got something different for Vista. That cd would not work for this PC, took it to my dads pc and it wouldnt work. Now probley 1/2 year later still haven't updated, emailed Edge and they told me to call them for some deeper tech support. I took the Edge to my uncles house tonite and hell it wouldnt even work at this house. Thats 3 places and I cant get this Edge to update or program!
Arg I just wish things would work properly. Have anyone of you had a issue with Lighting exe?

There was a post somewhere in these forums I believe, by Bill Cohron at PHP that said how to make the Edge happy with Vista. You might try searching for posts by him that have "Vista" in the text.

I'll see if I can find the reference for you since I wasted your time.
Yuk! I just found it here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...uter-help.html Unfortunately, it may not help you much, since it uses Pegasus (not Lightning or Fusion) and Pegasus is an application written for the custom tunable Gryphon, not the Edge.
So now, I suggest you email Bill Cohren at www.PHPTune.com - his email address is on his website and tell him your problems. He has stated he will continue to support all past and future users of Edge, so take him up on it. He's closed down his "shop" till Jan 2 so he can write tons of custom tunes, so he may not answer immediately, but, you MAY get lucky.

Just for reference, both Lightning and Pegasus use the same USB driver.
The biggest problem with Vista is the User Account Control (UAC) blocking access to the USB Driver information so the software can't locate what COM port is being emulated.
Our quick start guide for Pegasus will work just fine for Lightning. Just jump to the section on Windows Vista Support and follow the directions. If you continue to have problems, give me a shout and I'll be happy to walk you through resolving the USB problems.

Good luck.

Sometimes, simply setting the application to run in an XP emulated environment as administrator will alleviate these issues. I think that requires right clicking the EXE and choosing properties. Been to long since I messed with Vista. After a console eliminated my need for a windows PC, I have been linux since.
