Edge problem

Every time I turn on my ignition my edge either locks up or resets. Anyone have or had this problem or know why it is doing it or how to fix it?

Try unplugging it, then turn the key on and plug it back up.

Sounds like a bad cable connection. Make sure the cord has a little slack in the pod.

Yep. Mine did that for awhile. I fixed it by replacing the truck's battery.

Yep, I had forgotten that the display is one of the first things that recognizes a battery is failing.

Mine started acting up after a time at the beach when I let my battery run down while listening to the radio. The battery was OEM and was about 4 years old.

Ever since then, when I would go to start the truck, the Edge would either get hung up on the spash (logo) screen which then I would have to unplug and then plug in the cable into the ODBII port. Or it would display the truck's hex file screen and would prompt me to "press enter".

Lived with this for several months until one morning my truck almost didn't start. That afternoon I had the battery replaced and haven't had any problems out of the Edge since.

As Bluejay said once, on another thread, "Look on this as an 'early warning'" - or something to that effect. It's time to get a new battery, too bad they don't last forever.
