PHP has a question

Hi there!

I've been thinking about something, and I can't decide if it's worth doing or not, so I need your help, Friends!

I'm sure there are many of you who would gladly make a purchase from PHP, but your better half isn't too keen on the idea. Do you all think that offering PHP gift certificates would be a good idea or a waste of time? As the female half of PHP, I was thinking that it would be cool to be able to buy something for Billy that I really knew he wanted for, like, his birthday or Christmas or whatever. I imagine that most women wouldn't even know where to start with PHP and couldn't actually order a programmer, but they COULD order a gift certificate.

I hope I explained it well enough to make sense. :o)

Just let me know yay or nay.

Thanks!

Since I don't see how it would cost you anything (much of anything anyway), it probably wouldn't hurt to try.

My guess is though, you won't get a lot of "takers" unless the truck enthusiast in the family brings it to the "non-enthusiast's" attention.

I got Janet to get me a Li-ion conversion for my Ryobi One power tool set that way, but she would not have thought of it on her own. It helped that she shops at times for things in Home Depot, but she looks for different things than I do. She's at least familiar with the store.

The non-enthusiast spouse is not likely to be visiting your website, not even to just "look around".

I agree with Jack. I have to supply the exact model and webpage of anything I want that is for my truck or corvette. It is so much easier doing that way. I wouldn't mind a gift certificate but I think the spousal unit wouldn't know where to look for stuff I want.

My wife's the same as above, but when she asks what I want for b-day, x-mass or whatever the occasion. I usually have to write it down and point here in the right direction for it. But I think it would be a good idea.

Nah, forget it. I like the "girly" gifts that my girl gives me. That's why I keep her around. None of my buddies will ever, nor should they ever, try to give me massages, baths, foot rubs, or rub any other part of my body. Let the girls stick with updating our wardrobes (socks, ties, underwear). On second thought, I could get Thumper's underwear if I buy a SLR chip.

I don't think it'd be a bad idea, wouldn't take a lot on your side to get it going. Could always buy generic or print your own to start out and get a feel for the Gift Certificate Market. Would LOVE if my wife would get me one... pretty sure she wouldn't though, she doesn't appreciate my truck like I do

A gift certificate for the tunes might be a good idea, people change trucks and decide they want to try and different une but for the units themselves no I dont think it would work

Y'all are awesome. I wasn't really thinking about offering them for the totally uninformed buyer; I was thinking more for the wife or girlfriend of a truck enthusiast who has "mentioned" several times that he sure would like a Gryphon from PHP. If his female counterpart didn't know what to purchase once she got to our website, she could simply buy a gift certificate to show that she cares. I'm still a little bit up in the air about it. I guess it couldn't hurt to offer it; I'm just not sure how many people would take us up on it. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

Thank you, as always, for your help!

I like the idea about of gift certificates for tunes! I was more or less in a mindset of a gift certificate for a Gryphon programmer, and thinking no ones other half would buy a gift certificate for that much??
I think its a great idea to have different $$dollar$$ amount gift certificates.

I don't think you'd sell too many of them to be honest with you. Although, it's not really going to cost you any money to make them so that's not a problem. So with that said, I'd do it and try it out.

Really you don't even need to create physical cards since all of the ordering is done online anyways.
