Tuning 5.4L 3V for LPG(propane)?

Does anyone have any experiance with tuning for a LPG (propane) fueled 3V 5.4L?

I'm looking into converting my F150, and am wondering what tuning would need to be taken care of.

There apears to be 2 good kits from technacarb. An Asperated or fogger setup, and then there is an injected kit for about twice the price.

*Is forced induction an option with LPG? *

Why don't you call one (or all) of the "Big Three" that write tunes for Fords and ask them your question? I'm sure they'd give you a "real" answer, not just something we might imagine.

Bill's in Texas until Saturday, so I may be speaking out of turn here, but I'm pretty sure he (as Power Hungry Performance) won't custom tune for propane unless it's in person.

It has been done before on other ford vehicles, but there are a lot of technicalities, and the vehicle should be seen in person.

Those kits, links?

Whoops, this one got away from me :o Thanks for the replies.

I checked with Roush, and they don't have a supercharged LPG setup yet, but they do have an LPG conversion kit I was pointed towards a dealer that sells their LPG trucks for more info, which I'll do tomorrow. I'm bracing for hefty price tag, but from Roush I would be confident in a solid kit. It's complete, which the thechnacarb isn't (an underhood componenet only, you setup your own tank and lines).

It's a fuel produced in the United States of America (likely even Utah), it burns WAY cleaner than gasoline, it's a lot cheaper, the tax breaks on the conversion which pays for half of it , the ability to drive in the HOV/ carpool lane with only me in the truck, free parking at any metered parking in Salt Lake City. On top of that, from what I've read and heard from people who have converted to LPG, you will gain performance with proper tuning, get about the same MPG (3 MPG +/-) With all the perks including the cheaper fuel and performance boost, I'll take a MPG loss. I'm more inclined to think of this as a performance mod with added benefits

I found this info about tuning LPG vs gasoline.

I wouldn't be looking for a mail order tune, that's for sure. Though our local Ford specialized tuner has some serious problems with anything that's outside of the box (If it's not a Fox body, Lightning or Terminator they have nothing but trouble) and I wouldn't want to use them.

I thought I put links for the other kits....

I think they can be had for a bit cheaper if you shop around, but this represents the kit the best. Until I get more info on the Roush kit, the "vapor injected" one seems like the better choice WITH proper tuning, IMO.

Technacarb has been kind of stingey with any info about their kit. Their autherized dealers are too, especially if they think that you might want to install your own kit

If the Roush kit isn't re****ulously expensive, I think I'm going to get the technacarb kit and source my own parts for the tanks and lines, and cut gasoline out of my F150's diet forever.
