Truck runs poor after going back to stock with EDGE.
I have already disconected the battery thats what edge told me to do. It did not help. I will try to run on lvl1 for a couple days then go to stock and see what happens. Thanks guys.
Yeah, your wheels have the computer confused. It is trying to figure out when to shift. It will be that way until it is recalibrated, as long as you are on a stock tune.

Cravin, I don't want to belabor the obvious, but with the mods on your truck, it's anything but stock! I'm not a bit surprised the thing runs badly on a "stock" tune. The suggestions for adjusting for tire size in level 1 are right on, though, and may help. Just don't forget to put it back to level 0 before you take it to the dealer, especially if you want them to reflash the PCM.
You did not say what the problems were that are prompting you to return the truck to the dealer. If they are not similar to the symptoms you are now describing, then I'd say your transmission is fine, and, since you seemed to like the way the truck drove with the Edge, why not return it to Level 2 when you get it back?
I've had my Edge, now a Gryphon, back and forth between level 0 and a custom level 2 several times. I never had any problems doing it, but, my truck is mechanically "stock" and, my Gryphon has the latest firmware updates. Have you updated your Edge? Since it's out of the truck, it would be a good time to do it. If you do update, use Lightning3, not Fusion.

I drove today about 45 miles on the transmission only setting and everything was fine with the shifting and the studder. I will give it about 200 more miles then go back to stock level zero and if it is still screwed up I am going back to the dealer. Thank god for a warranty!!! Jack---My 4 wheel drive was not working and that was what prompted me to go to the dealer. I just want to make sure that I always have the option of returning to "stock tune" whenever I need to. I will keep everyone posted on what happens!! Thanks for all the help.

Good, Cravin. I think you are seeing a (perhaps) extreme example of trying to get the stock PCM program to recognize and get along with the mods you have put on your truck. As someone who has taught software engineering for the last 20 years and who has done a bit of investigation into EPROM driven hardware designs, I can see how the PCM is having a problem with this abrupt change back to the "stone age".
I'll repeat, if you were not having these kinds of problems when you were using the Edge level 2 tune, the Edge is not at fault. And, from everything I know about the software and hardware design of an Edge-like device, there is NO WAY it can "cover up" a serious transmission fault. If the transmission is screwed up, it will be obvious in any tune you use. Notice the 4-wheel drive problem was not "masked" by the Edge. Even though I have a Gryphon (rebranded Edge) and love it, there's no way I think it can work miracles!
Seems like, from what you are saying, you can change between tune levels at will, (except for the weird behavior at stock). Looks to me like your Edge is working properly.
Get the 4WD problem fixed and go back to your former tune. It's what I'd do.
I'm open to disagreement on this of course, if anyone has better ideas.

I took it to the dealer and the 4 wheel drive now works, they did not reflash the computer or anything. There was a TSB on a sensor in the transfer case so they just did a swap out with no test drive and that problem was resolved. After talking to a drivability mechanic at a big truck fleet I take care of he showed me a paper from Ford explaining the "drive cycle" and how to reprogram the PCM. I do not know if any of you have seen all the steps but there is a bunch, and you basically have to show your PCM every different road condition your truck will ever see. He has a route down here that he drives down and if traffic cooperates he can do it in a hour. I guess there is no easy way to reprogram the PCM even the dealer has to be on the road for about a hour. This shop has even tryed to simulate the drive cycle on a hoist but found the Ford has to be under load. The good news is my PCM is not throwing the drive cycle code on the scope. According to the mechanic I should drive about 60to 80 miles non stop and see what happens. So Jack from what I found out today you are completely right on.
Great! I'm so pleased you've got your ride back in good shape.
For what it's worth, Bill Cohron at www.powerhungryperformance.com has posted the drive cycle information on his website (in the FAQs I think). Reading through it made me want to barf. What an incredible bunch of work! This is progress? But, this post shows he knows these vehicles and is willing to share information with us all.
