The wait is worth it for me. Nobody has more experience or has done more R&D on these trucks and their mods like intakes etc. Hes mastered every intake, including the 3.5" AF1 through mail oder tunes, others haven't. It really shows through customer satisfactions/reviews.

Wait times suck. But knowing that this time is going toward consistent R&D and improvement is a nice feeling when you're trusting him with the safety of your truck.

You know who my personal recommendation is.
Apparently you know the score; TP is the R&D guy, period ; everybody, bar none, waits till he (TP) is done R&D’en, then after he gets done & gets it right, everyone else gets a taste; and they jump on it like they discovered it

I went with Troyer back in November. I honestly went with him because of all his leg humpers. Yes, Leg humpers...

I like, and dislike my tunes. Off the line...the tune does not melt my butter. Passing ability...creates a stirring in my loins.

I have no idea who's tune is better. All I know, is that I asked who has had a custom tune on their truck for over 50k. Got a few replies, so I went with Troyer. There were quite a few dorks that replied that they have been running custom tunes for 10K. I was so grateful for their worthless info.

I was not pointing fingers...and I am happy with the passing ability of my Troyer tunes. Its just that the lack of quickness from the stop...leaves a little something to be desired.

see if you can get an adjustment so you can spin the tires a little more; it can be done; they say it don’t count but I think it does, I like a little tire squeal now and then

I spent several months trying to decide what device and tuner to go with.

Number one consideration was not hurting my powertrain in any way.

I certainly wanted better performance, but not at the expense of cooking the transmission or cracking heads, etc.

I knew that these trucks had more in them than what Ford sends out from the factory, and that's what I wanted to open up.

After reading a lot, on here and other places, I decided on Troyer's tuning.

Troyer, as far as I can tell, has years more experience in tuning F150's than any other out there. Seems to be very interested in (especially) the variations in the 04+ pcm programming.

Yes, you're gonna have to wait a bit, maybe 2-3 months to get your tunes from Troyer. But what exactly is your hurry? Instant gratification? Is that what's best for your truck?

I can say this - Troyer's tunes basically gave me a completly different truck, the sort of shifting and power that I thought was always there.

No knock against any of the other custom tuners, I have no experience with them.

I'd highly recommend Troyer tunes though, the wait is worth it and just go fishing, for God's sake.. just be patient.. LOL

I just think that buying the best is worth waiting for...

Here is an attempt at reporting my experience...

I have on '03 5,4. I was looking to hook up an exhaust, CAI and tune at the same time After reading everything i could find (and stumbling onto this forum in the process) I went with Troyer for the whole package.

I have been extremely satisfied with thier service and expertise. Lately they have taken a while to get me newer tunes, but The results have been worth it to me.

I like the Xcal2 for the way it interfaces and the fact that I can read codes outside of just tuning. I can hold all three of my top tumes and change when I want to.

Have I tried VMP tunes, no. Have I used chips vs. PCM tunes, no. But, I have not had an occasion to regret it to this point.

I hope this helps.
