Edge question/CAI
i have an edge, aem bruteforce intake with no problems...truck runs fine...tho i have developed this knock but i dont believe it has anything to do with the cai...drone isn't to bad at all...there are several ppl on here with this setup
X2 on this Thumper!
Does it EVER make sense to scrap what is fundamentally a good piece of equipment that can be modified to be a "great" device, just to try something new? (At great expense too?)
I keep saying, "Talk to Bill"! If you don't like what you hear, vote with your feet! Run, not walk, to one of the others in the "Big Three"! From everything I've learned here, you're going to be happy with your choice.
But, I'm betting you won't run!

X3. I never realy considered getting an aftermarket tune until reading this thread. Thanks guys. Im sending my edge to him and picking it up when im in town for van halen. I hope its worth it, but i trust you guys and having read enough, it will be. Bill is a super nice guy and knows his stuff. I wonder what he'll be like in person. any recommendations on what tunes i should get? id like 2 get 1 or 2, no more. keep my lift in mind, so im not going to have "massive" ammounts of power.
Just TALK to him! (Wish I could meet him in person too!). Tell him your EXACT needs - he'll tell you what he can do for you and won't push anything more on you.
So, discuss your lift and anything else you've done with your truck. Tell him what you are hoping for. I'm betting he'll do whatever he can to satisfy your desires, nothing more and nothing less. That is what "Engineering" is supposed to be: no "feature creep" and no "recalls".

However, Bill, at www.powerhungryperformance.com knows what to do for you and you should call him. He's a good guy and you'll be glad you did.

So how does one exactly get a custom tune dependent on ones truck?
I mean there are so many variations, everybody picks different CAI's, exhaust, Lift kits, Level Kits, Tire size, Efans, etc...
So if i go with trading up to bills Gryphon and I get a custom tune for the volant, then decide later im i want to add a level kit and larger tires. I need to get a custom tune all over again?
Or if I decide I just dont like the volant but want to go back to stock or say a S&B then I have to have a new custom tune?

Now, EVERYONE will correct me if I'm wrong,
but, I'm sure that adding certain new performance mods would force you to get a new custom tune to properly make use of them. I really don't see how this could be otherwise, regardless of the programming device you are using. Notice I'm not being "all inclusive" here though. Some mods would probably have no effect on the tune (but they could improve performance or handling).- Jack

Bill has given me the answers, and I'll let you in on what I've learned...

If you have a Gryphon and want to add a level kit and larger tires later, you DON'T have to get new tunes -- you would simply adjust your tire size and gear ration in the custom options in the Gryphon. Good news, huh?
If you decided to change from the Volant to the S & B, there shouldn't be a problem with running your existing custom Volant tunes. If you decide to do away with a CAI altogether, there would only be a nominal charge to recorrect the tables for the absence of a CAI.
Hope this helps!
EDGE question?
Im new to the forum and i have a 2004 F150 screw FX4 and have purchased the edge programmer. i have not had any problems with the programmer since i bought it (knock on wood) but am concerned and have read alot about PHP. My question is how does the process of sending it to Bill work? Do i send him the edge and he retunes the EDGE to the spec of the truck and then returns it to me or sends me a new unit in return.
