I think a healty 40rwhp could be seen with breathing and tuning upgrades. More important than out right horsepower increase though is the increase in response and power under the curve.

I fully agree

good to know what everyone is getting. I guess the general consensus seems to be a healthy 40 rwhp. Thats really all i need to offset what I am about to do as far as weight gain on the tire end.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Go to summit racing, find the mods with the most HP claims, use the calculator and add them ALL together. And that is how much HP you will have.

well gee wizz, thanks for the attacks.... oh, and my bad i dont sit by my computer all day just WAITING to reply. That being said, here you go: Long tubes, Xpipe, slp loudmouths, no cats, UDP's, i also had the C&L w/ SCT 2 tunes from Evolution Performance, aluminum driveshaft, SPEC clutch, lightened flywheel, ( and not that it matters, but BMR Panhard bar, RCA, Strut Brace, Tublar K-Member) I ran a baseline, and after installing everything over a period of a 4 months, it came back 68 rwhp. There's more there than just a tune, granted. And it was a little aggresive for my tastes, afraid it might have run a little lean at times. But thats what i got. I dont have a scanner, but i'll try to take some pics of it my my 10 m.p digi and see if that comes out. Call bull**** all ya want. It doesn't really bother me.

I just realized, if this forum is going to allow 40 rwhp for a tune and "breathing devices", i only ganed an extra 28 from a much lighter reciprocating weight, and more "breathing devices" than they allowed. Doesn't really seem that far off now does it? Sorry if my initial post is a little misleading, i guess it isn't JUST a tune and intake. I was running the same 93 octane gas you are running. Full synthetic lubes front, rear, and everything in between. With Qa1 XR's, this wasn't the most pleasant street driven car. But it sure was fun on the straights.

What a LOT of people fail to recognize when they see a "50 whp gain" from tune is that it is often from the fact that they measure it at an RPM that previously had limitations from the limiters. IE, it;s a peak number at the VERY top of the RPM range and not a true, usable gain.

In reality you want to look at the entire curve and see the average gains across the curve, which I would say will be between 15-40 HP from intake, exhaust, and a tune on the 5.4 3v.

No one was attacking you. Before you said you gained 68 rwhp from a tune, intake, and exhaust. Not everything else you just listed. Sounds like a nice car though, which driveshaft did you have? I've been looking into one for my car. Also, that exhaust set-up. How loud was it? I've been thinking about adding a O/R X Pipe, cat delete, to my SLP LMs. What do you think?

That could be true, but I've never raised my rev limiters much on any cars i used at the track. (most were carburated.... but still) On the Fuel Injected, like the mustang, there was no need. Without forged internals, you're gonna grenade that puppy, or let your crank tear a hole out the engine. On an old 79 trans am, bored 400 and forged internals, it STILL didnt feel good shifting higher up. looking at the dyno, the curve looked dang near the same untill approx 700 rpms past previous dropoff, which is were it began to decline more rapidly. So it was mostly useable power, just adjusted the curve by 700 or so rpms.

Yeah, my bad. Working extra every day for the past 2 weeks to catch a deadline, and im cranky. As for loud, well, they go from loudmouths to obnoxiously-yelling-at-you-mouths. Its really unlike anything else. I was afraid it would be a too hollow, but it had decent tone, considering the level it was at. If i had to do it over, id get some IMCO (now with CherryBomb) Mufflers, only because their tonality is richer. Can't tell you the brand of driveshaft off the top of my head, Dynotech maybe? I ordered from Brenspeed and AutoKrafters. They were kinda a competitor for Evo Performance, but evo didn't sell parts at the time. Just great tunes. I ordered BMR directly from BMR, cause you can catch specials quite a bit.

EDIT: p.s. i DID just sit around my computer waiting to reply this time... just sold myself out. Dang it.... heh
