Attaching the edge mounting pod?

well I am out trying to install the edge in my truck today. I was quite disipointed in the lack of any way to attach the mounting pod. I think the pod looks real nice if I could get it to stay in place. I can not believe they went through all the trouble to make such a nice looking pod and not provide a way of attaching it to the truck. the directions didn't even say how. they just said mount it. so I am trying to think on how I will attach it. I was thinking of trying to use some double sided tape but this would be a little awkward to do as ther is only a few places I could stick the tape. I just thought I would check and see how everyone on here atttached there pod. I still can not believe they did not provide a way to attach it. did they just think we would just sit it there and let it flop arround.

Mine came with both double sticky tape and velcro. I used the tape, but it didnt last. I now have nothing and the cables hold it down just fine. If you need something, go to Home Depot, and get some Velcro strips.

well I guess that is what I get for buying mine from the clasifieds used. it didn't come with tape or velcro. I have some double sided tape I think I will try. it also did not come with a usb cable to attach to my computer should I decide to try to get it updated or get a custom program. I hope th tape holds. I thought of using the cable to hold it down but it can be hard on the cable connetor to have the cable constantly pulling against it.

The extreme summer heat killed the tape on mine. Your's may hold better. Worth a try, since you have the tape.

mine doesnt use anything either. The way I have the cord it holds it with the very occasional fall. I didnt want to put anything with glue on it on the dash to take the paint off later down the road. If you have a digital camera, or a USB card reader, blackberry etc it uses the same cable. 5-pin USB Mini-B.

Yep, the cord is heavy enough and the way it comes in from the rear, it holds mine just fine.

well I used the double sided tape and it worked ok. I am not sure if it will last so I pulled the cord tight as well. and 2005lariatky you are right my usb cord from my camera looks like it will work. that is cool I am glad I didn't have to go find me a usb cord. I loaded level 2 up and took it for a test drive. it sure feels good. the first thing I noticed is it sure makes my exhaust rumble alot more. sounds pretty cool has a much more performance sound to it. as for I only took it for a short test drive and the roads were pretty wet so I did not get into it to hard no wot. but I do not do alot of wot driving anyways. only when passing on the highway. one thing I did notice is the standard shift firmness did not seem much firmer than stock. from what I have read on here most people are only adjusting the wot shift firmness. I think I want to adjust my standard shift firmness up. I seen guys on here adjusting the wot shift firmness up as much as +12. but I never seen anyone adjusting standard shift firmness so much. I was thinking of going with + 8 on the standard shift firmness. will there be any issues with doing this?

I have run mine at +12 for 35,000 miles, no trouble. When you adjust the WOT shifts it affects the near WOT as well, that is the one you want to adjust first. I have never messed with the normal shifts.

I didn't use anything and it didn't move around or fit weird. The only time I had a problem was when I was offroad, pushing the truck a little too hard.

Mine sat there just fine too, without any additional mounting security.

I finally decided I didn't like it sitting quite as low as it was (just beginning to cover the air vent) so I put a strip of velcro under the front of the pod and on the dash. It now holds the pod about 1/16 inch above the aiir vent and I like its looks better.

BTW, we use velcro strips all the time to hold "dashmats" in place here in Arizona. They (the dashmats) really keep the dash from deteriorating and are a must in our climate.

edge pod attachment

I used 3m command strips to install my pod. I had to move it from my 2004 to my 2006. You can remove the strips without leaving any residue. The catch is you need to buy a new strip when you remove them. I placed 2 strips on the pod and 2 strips on the dash (They mesh together similar to velcro). You can adjust the placement of the pod if you need to without removing the strips as well.

Strips as purchased

It's a little tight, but it should pull out.

Mine came with the mounting bracket and velcro, but i didnt need to use them. My pod pretty much clipped into place and doesn't move around one bit.
