I have been playing around since I put the 35's on the truck to go with a tuner, or just leave it alone, or what to do.

I will probably go with custom Troyer Tunes but I want to know exactly what everyone thinks about them (both positive and negative). Please also feel free to add anything that you think would be useful as well. Thanks.

I have X3 with troyer tunes-87 performance-87 towing-93 performance

1. How does the tuned truck compare to stock and what level are you using most of the time?

Mostly I run 87 performance-Differance is night and day-Normal driving you dont notice much differance other than nice firm shift points, but give it some gas and you would swear you just switched trucks-the more/faster you give the gas the more differance you see

2. How is the shifting compared to stock and can that be adjusted without re-tuning?

Shifting is much firmer over stock, the faster you accerlerate the firmer the shift, less throttle and you barely notice the shift. I dont think shift points can be changed on stock tune, but you can with tuner

3. What was the cost with the forum discount?

Im not sure if prices can be discussed on forums because what I paid may differ from what you pay, call troyer for price

4. Any issues with reliability after some time?

Had my tunes since christmas of 2007-no problems yet

5. Any improvement or decrease of gas mileage after adding the tuner and which level seems to net the best results? (I understand that when you first get the tunes your foot gets heavy to test it)

Went from about 15.3 mpg to 14.5 mpg, I do have a heavy foot and you have a tendancy to use the extra power you have-no complaints though

6. What all is asked for on the data-log sheets for Troyer?

In a nut shell, he needs to know specifics of your truck, what you use if for, what mods you have, anything that can affect the tunes, simple questions to answer if you know anything about your truck

7. What changes can you make manually (tire size, shift firmness, etc....)?

I THINK-just about anything you want-timing-tire sizes- shift firmness and others im sure but why would you pay to have custom tunes and then change them?

8. Is it still worth the investment after you have had it for a while or does the "WOW" factor dissappear?

The wow factor kinda goes away once you get used to it, but if you get bored or start to forget then put the pedal to the floor-you will remember why you got the tunes

9. How quickly does Mike fix any initial "issues" that may occur with the tuner? (And what, if any, did any of you have)

I have had no problems yet-heard lots of good though

10. Finally, would you buy Troyer Tunes for your next Ford Truck or try something else?

Wouldnt think twice, recommend to anybody who asks about it and am actually thinking about making the 5hr trip over there to have him dyno it

Thank you again for all the help

I'm not going into detail. But Mike's been tuning my trucks since 2000. That's a 00' with a Kenne Bell SC. My old 03' Lightning 400+ RWHP and it never blew up I forgot to add that At 65MPH on my lightning with Cruise control on I got 18mph, And I did the calc. twice. And my now present 06' F150 FS 4X4. The gang at Mikes have been great to me and I highly recommend them.

Mike tuned my 04 F150 and 07 Mustang GT, both have shown a great improvement, especially the Mustang. The car has much more power and take off, the shifting is much better. A different car. The F150 was sluggish from the factory tune, now has better take off and shifting.

This sums it up perfectly. Get the Troyer tunes, you certainly won't regret it. I've had my tunes since May 07 and have had ZERO issues.

But than again you've never tried VMP, correct?

ONE04FX4 has tried both, VMP and Troyer.

Sounds good as long you don't do a biased C.R. review of the two products. Everyone will know since ONE04FX4 has already had both and said they were both excellent.

So what if ONE04FX4 tried both, that’s the opinion of 1-person

You can’t line up a bunch of people that dis TP’s tunes, you just won’t be able to do it; his tunes are da’bomb
