NCSU - Your posting of FX4's results do not apply in this case. FX4 took the acctual truck to Troyer and they tuned it in real time on the dyno. In the world of mail order tunning this is not the case.

For example, Take truck A and truck B, both trucks same everything from the factory, both owners put the same mods on their truck. Both owners call Troyer and want the same type of tunes i.e. 87 Perf, 93 Tow, and 93 Perf. Both owners will recieve the EXACT SAME TUNE.

I don't care what anyone says or how they candy coat it creating tunes based off of a database should not take more than an hour or so. You can have your truck tuned on a Dyno in a matter of hours. From a mail order standpoint there are only so many inputs you can make and once the input is made without the vehicle on the dyno there is NO WAY to see the results, therefore no tweaking needed.
just one more guy on here who knows nothing about tuning, and yes the tunes are worth the wait as for VMP they are a mustang tuner and do a little truck tunes, Troyer does F-150's and has done so for over 15 years.... the choice is yours

And how many posts do you see on here about problems people have with the Edge? I understand it works great for a lot of people, but the fact that so many others have problems with it is what turned me away from getting an Edge. I do like the little pod/display that comes with it, but I picked up a ScanGuage II to cover that.

PS: I just cannot believe that someone who specializes in tuning a vehicle that is not an F-150 can get better results that someone who has been specifically tuning F-150s for over 15 years. Not saying other tunes aren't going to be better than stock, or that some tunes might provide an additional 5 peak HP, but from a complete package perspective, I don't think Troyer's can be beat. I tried to get a thread going where everyone posts their dyno charts, but it didn't take off....

LOL.

Yeah because we all know the technology in the F150 has been the same for 15 years.

Get real.

No, never had the opportunity.... through no fault of mine.

Tried to get in touch with him through this site, through his work [webpage] and never heard a whisper from him.

Moved on, quite happily mind you, to someone else.

Correct.... though no fault of mine.

Pretty much any one else? Don't sugar coat it. It DOES take longer than ANYONE else!

Let's keep it real, huh?

This is simply not true as Mike will take into account your driving habits, the gas available in your area, and many other parameters.

They may be similar but not EXACT

You say some very intelligent things, but that comment is just plain stupid!

Yes, technology changes practically daily now, but that doesn't mean that all previous experience on a particular subject becomes null and void!

Just because there's a new laser available for eye surgery, are you going to want to go with someone who's has just 2 of surgery experience, or someone with years 20?

Yeah I called twice and left a messages a a "potential customer." I contacted him through the forums also.

But this thread's not about my experiences with Mike. The few who I've devulged to in the past know the story.

This thread's not even about the quality of his tunes/products.

It's merely about the [almost] trimester it takes from go-to-whoa for a Troyer tune.

I stand corrected then. Glad you got what you wanted somewhere else.

Hmm, I've talked directly to Mike 2 or 3 times, and to Anita and Neal (Neil? I always forget how he spells it) several other times. A simple phone call can work wonders.

Edited to add: Saw that you called them and left messages... with who? Just curious...

Great! I hope you are as happy with your tunes as I am mine! Who did you go with? Do you have any dyno data?

That's fine, but even if it took a year to get tunes from Mike, I'd wait. You can have something done right, done cheap, or done fast... but you can only pick 2 of the 3.

QUOTE]

Wrong and double wrong. I'm not entirely sure what basis or experience is exercised here relevant to the above quote.

Bottom line, as I said in another post, Truck A and Truck B are NEVER the same. All modifications, trim levels, etc. can be created equal, however, no two ECU's nor their inherent strategies, nor regional demographics are ever identical unless Truck A and Truck B are manufactured back to back on the same day on the same line at the same plant, and even then that's not a guarantee. Ford changes and revises ECU strategies hundreds of times a month and Troyer customizes his tunes around a customers particular strategy for THAT ECU/Manufacturing Metric, and hundreds of other parameters, i.e. regional gas types, performance criteria, usage metrics, current state of maintenance, etc. Why do you think Troyer requires a customer to fill out 4 pages of worksheets? I'd like to know of any other tuner who requires such information and that will flat out refuse tuning a vehicle until such an interview is conducted and accepted. "Uh Mr. Superchips, uh, send me a FlashPaqTuner, overnight, and I think my Truck is an 05 F150" "No problem!, our tuner and tunes will work for all 2004 up F150's, plus it will work in your Ranger & Expedition!" This may be perfectly acceptable for weekend Bob who wants a little extra pep in his step.

If you want a set of tunes that are exact across a particular product line with assumptions of design made to cover dozens of different vehicles, owner habits, driving scenarios etc. AND want it next day, give Super Chips a call or one of the many advertised express tuners in the yellow pages.
