Well... life returns to "normal"
Well, it looks like after about two months of hell, things are slowly getting back to normal.
First, after being AWOL 29 days my son Chris returned back to Camp Pendelton to face the music. After much arguing by his mother, myself and his Gy. Sgt. that he was suffering from extreme PTSD relating to his recent tour in Iraq, the Corps has decided to let him stay in until his discharge in May and will not list him as a Dishonorable Discharge. They are also finally getting him the counseling he desperately needs to deal with what he's been through. I want to thank everyone for their concern and kind words during this extremely rough time (for both Chris and us).
Unfortunately, Chris was only the start of a really unfortunate series of family as well as business issues. My dad had a stroke in December and my Mother had an "episode" relating to a heart murmer she's had since she was born. To top everything else off, our main server went down as a result of a quite inconvenient hard drive failure. I have ended up traveling between GA, FL and TX for the last 5 weeks and have put more miles on my body than I care to think about. At least my frequent flyer miles are adding up!
Alas, things are finally stabilizing.
Dad's stroke has affected his vision which started as complete blindness but is rapidly improving. While his vision will never fully return to where it was, the doctors expect him to recover well enough to return to his normal routines.
Mom is doing well and doctors have attributed her arrhythmia to stress related to her impending move from FL to TX. She'll have to take it easy for a bit but will be back to her old self in due time.
Finally, after a server rebuild I am pretty well back to where I was before Christmas. Data recovery went better than expected with practically zero loss. Thank goodness for RAIDs! However, since the server was down for about 4 weeks, I did lose any e-mails sent between 12/15 and 01/25.
I do want to apologize to anyone who was trying to get in touch with me over the last couple weeks via phone, e-mail or forum posts and will be doing what I can to play catch-up on the posts and Evolution issues. If anyone is experiencing issues that require IMMEDIATE attention, feel free to call me at the number on my website or drop me an e-mail (I have confirmed it is working now...)
Hopefully 2008 will be a fantastic year. Bush will be out of office, the economy will improve, gas will drop to under $2.00 a gallon, housing values will rise again and GA will get some RAIN! Well, maybe some of that is wishful thinking.
Anyway, best of luck to all and have a great year. See ya 'round.

Bill - great to have you back and I'm really pleased to hear how the Corps is going to treat your Son.
Sounds like you were facing the end of the world there for a time. Things have to get better after all that!

Hi Bill,
I've never corresponded with you before but I've done a lot of reading and your knowledge seems to be a real asset(IMO) to this forum and it also sounds like you are well liked. You must be a good Jo!!!
It's always sad to hear when life deals bad cards but that's life I guess. Positive attitude is everything and it sounds like you have a hold on that.
Best to you and your fam
