Xcal II
I have an XCAL II that was installed in my '05 F150, (5.4, V8) I have since bought a 2008 King Ranch (same motor) what do I do to get the XCAL to work in my new truck. I uploaded the factory settings back to my '05 before trading it in by the way. I called SCT and they referred me out to a local dealer, who told me that he hadn't bought the new software yet and that '07 wasn't compatible software. I guess it will help the papers on my desk stay put for awhile.
try uploading to your truck. If it just cranks and wont start then it is the wrong pcm code and you will have to buy new tunes. If it starts and drives than it is the same pcm and caught a major break. it wont hurt anything if it wont start. I doubt it is the same code but it is definitely worth a shot

If the XCall 2 has custom tunes the Xcall needs reprogrammed for your new truck. Call whoever did the custom tunes, or whichever custom tuner you wish to use and talk to them and they should be able to hook you up with new tunes
I am thinkin Mike might be the best bet. The guy I bought it from is no where to be found anymore. What does something like new tunes cost?

are there ANY mechanic changes between the 05's and the 08's?......... Um NOOOOOOOOOOO! So if the PCM code on both trucks is the same they are essentially the EXACT SAME TRUCKS. The only way that it would make a significant difference is if he was full bolt on on his last truck. I have a good friend who writes custom tunes locally and he wouldn't hesitate for a second to do it. so I guess openclass is right..... some people shouldn't give advice

I think it is bad advice to tell somebody to "just try it and see if it works." He needs to call Troyer to get some good help with the X-cal2 and tunes or somebody else that knows what they are doing.

My worry would be that it doesn't start and then he can't load his stock tune. That is the main reason for not trying it. The X-cal2 just might take a dump if the software version is not correct. This would cause towing to a Ford dealership to be re-flashed.
