I disagree, I had an Edge in my 2006 F150, and it was horrible. The driveability was so bad that I had to get rid of it among other problems. I actually just kept it for the gauges but got a custom tuned Xcal2 from VMP Tuning.

Bill who is ASEMECHANIC on this board did my custom tuning on my Edge. Performs much better than the canned Edge. Shifting is better and he corrected for the CAI to eliminate the possible lean issue. Truck pulls better through the powerband. I am still going to get the AF's checked to verify and get Dyno charts. I got a level 3 91 octane performance tune and a level 2 87 octane performance tow tune.

That's how I came up with the names for the tunes. I think they are appropriate for the levels.

Sounds like you had a misadjusted or defective tuner Did you ever seek help/professionals before you got rid of it?
I see many post here with 2006 F150 that rave about their edge, then I saw a post that claimed edge blew up the engine and trans...

I am not sure. You will have to call Bill and ask. Probably depends on what you are installing. If it is Evolution capable via ODBII probably something he can do.

He works on some pretty exotic projects outside of evolution as well. He is also one heck of a nice guy to deal with.

 

Im looking at doing a 5.4 swap and want to be able to use my edge to do teh tuning. I know it has to be custom. I just love the way the edge looks and functions. This web site is the third one i have bookmarked that i have found to do costom tuning for the edge but i have yet ot talk to anyone that has done it yet. How was the process... Did you have to send it in or was it done via USB? How was the out come?

 

No, the tuner worked fine on my 2004 F150. Which is the very problem with tuners like the Edge. It's hard to tune for all of the different PCM strategies in a do it all tuner like the Edge. Yes, I did seek from Edge which was no help. They told me that it was fine.

 

When I got my Superchips tuner it sucked...rough shifts, poor performance and all sorts of crap. After I learned what the adjustments did and got a new battery it was all good. I looked at edge products but I dont have any personal experience so I will take your word.
The way it looks on the dash and the readouts do look nice.
So I guess you arent an Edge fan?

 

Nope, besides if you decide to get the Xcal2, it'll be able to be used on another vehicle. It's great.
