probably cause he doesnt want to have to publicly apologize for making false statements or admit he was wrong.

I use HP tuners to tune my Ford. They are a lot different than the GM's, but I can tell you I am happy with what I have done. The tranny shifts awesome and simply fixing the A/F and timing (running 89) I feel a difference. If I cared enough about the actual gains I would get it dynoed before and after, but I really don't want to pay the $80 to run over the Stiegemeirs to prove a point. I know there is more than what I mentioned to tuning, but I am happy so far. I am going to do some more tinkering before I put the S/C on. I would like to do more with the line pressure and shift points. I always start uber conservative and move from there. Am I getting the power Troyer (or Justin) gets out of his tune, probably not, but is it worth the extra money, TO ME, no. Not only do I get to learn about what actually makes this truck go, I am learning the capability to do it myself. Would I pass an oportunity to see one of there (Justin or Troyer) base files, hell no, that would give me more insight than tinkering around could ever do. I have contemplated buying one of their tunes just to see the parameters they change, but it sort of takes the fun out of it. Learning something on your own makes you understand it that much better.

I agree!
I did not name any names but you have to admit there are both sheep and people here just trying to stir the pot which does nothing to help either side.

LOL, I doubt that. Any info or "secrets" I find out on my own I will share with everyone. I have asked some more technical questions to a couple reputable tuners, and that info I will keep to myself if they desire. I am just here to have fun, not make a living. I do alright being a Mechanical Engineer. I spend enough time with my vehicles as it is

Posi,

Ya I have a superchips tuner right now and think it did a great job out of the box, but I wonder sometimes what could really be done once I add more aftermarker parts like headers, intake, etc, on top of the stuff I already have like the 4:88 gears.

They definatly weren't thinking of gears that low when they designed the out of the box tune.

Then again I don't know anything about it yet so maybe it dosen't matter that much.

What did you have to buy to get going on you own custom tunes?

I tune with a friend. He has the software from HP tuners to do all of this. The start-up is expensive and you need to license every vehicle you tune. HP tuners not to long ago released the Ford tuning software and it cost me $200 for the license. But the HP tuner software has many more variables that we can access over SCT or Diablo. A tuner like Troyer or Justin has a lot more access to the parameter on the SCT than we are allowed as customers. HP tuners doesn't do that, you can access everything, which can be a bad thing if you push the wrong button. It is fun.

This thread has defintely seen it's day... it's pointless at this point and the same people have continually jumped in and stirred the pot.

This forum is for SHARING INFORMATION... not immature and moronic attitudes and statements. I'm closing it.
