Me too - (Except in my case it's grandkids). And, I really only use the truck when we pull our trailer or go someplace out in the boonies where the roads are bad and perhaps there's no cell phone coverage.

My understanding though, is that the engine does not normally "quit cold". It just starts acting bad and then you need to get it fixed fairly quickly

Rereading the letter from Ford, the check engine light will come on (which means the PCM will show a code) and the truck will be hard to start or will run rough. So, I suspect you may be able to "limp" home or to the nearest dealership.

Shortly after buying my 05 back in March 2005, at 1600 miles, my truck all the sudden started running rough, would not accelerate. It was as if it was flooding and the little "wrench" light came on. I pulled over and called the dealer, they said to try to make it to them, about 20 miles away. I made it, but used over a 1/4 tank of gas. They kept the truck a couple of days and said they changed the throttle body. I have always wondered if that was really what they changed. It has run perfectly since then, now about 63,000 miles.

Ive heard of peoples injectors getting stuck opened. I may look into swapping out the injectors if they arent to much.

Ditto here same letter! Whos to say one wont go out 2-3 years down the road and remember this letter they sent. Then have to make sure it is a injector problems thats under warranty. If not and you take it to them its going to cost you an arm and leg!!

I have always wondered if that was really what they changed.
See thats my point I just dont trust Ford dealers. Well most of them anyway in my area. I wont go into details. But I dont feel confident I can take my truck to ford and say I think its the injectors and they say not its such and such. At this point your truck is not running and pretty much have to rely on what they say.

On the "carbon buildup around the throttle plate. My previous F150 1998 truck I had to take mine a part and clean it. Fixed my code problem took a while but was FREE.

Now back to the set idle on the Edge. Mine always took efect right away and changed mine many of times testing tweaking ect. I would first set it back to stock and try to reprogram it again. If no luck try what 05supercrew said just for kicks since this happened to him. If no luck call Edge and see what they say and send it back if it doesnt start working!!

Good Luck!

Stock idle is 525 rpm. Which is what mine idles at now according to my edge. Speaking with Troyer he says he bump the idle up to 600 rpm with his custom tunes which helps with the power steering and ac at idle speeds.
