Just to let you know...
Many thanks to all of you. At this point, we have 1 person (a female acquaintence) who says she may have seen him but we have not been able to validate that. We are trying to get in contact with the bank to get a list of transactions for the past 10 days so we can hopefully trace it somewhere.
I am quite surprised that the Oceanside Police isn't more involved. When I filed the report they basically indicated that they'd let the Marines handle it and would not actively investigate the disappearence. The said they would contact me if he should turn up anywhere but that's not doing anything to ease mind.
I talked to his CO today and apparently many of the guys in his unit are showing extreme indications of PTSD... more severe than normal. He also indicated that Chris was having difficulty coping with certain aspects of his tour in Iraq. I can't begin to even imagine the hell he (or anyone else for that matter) has been through over the last 9 months and I am just hoping that now that his is in a "safe" environment he has gone somewhere to deal with his emotions. If that's the case, then that's fine but I just wish he'd pick up a phone and let someone... ANYONE... know he's okay.
Thanks again to everyone and we'll keep you posted.

Prayers
God be with you and your family now. May the stars align for your sons safe return. We are in his debt for his service to our country. Hopefully he is just taking a break and spending sometime alone as young men do. You are in out prayers here in Texas.

Bill,
Thoughts and Prayers on the way from New Mexico - USA!
23+ yrs Active Duty here, seen first hand and personally know several folks dealing with PTSD. Here's hoping your son is located soon and that the VA will get him any sort of help he may be looking for...
Much Respect,
(MSgt) Bruce
My prayers to your son Bill
. I hope its nothing to serious.. angel:
Its weird how this happens to the nicest of people...
Bill was always there for us when we had problems with this chip and he would spend most of his time helping us.. Now we gotta help him!
God Bless

Hey all... Time for an update!
First, I'd like to say a big THANKS to everyone who has shared their concern and prayers. After almost two weeks of rough nights (not to mention pulling out what little hair I have left) Chris has finally surfaced... or at least contacted people.
I talked to him on Saturday and, as we had all suspected, he went to spend some time away from the world and try to deal with everything he's been through the last 9 months. He's trying to deal with the death of 5 friends and soldiers who were killed a couple months ago by an I.E.D., not to mention the whole war in general. I'm not sure what it is he's feeling as he's never been good at articulating his emotions but I'm sure it's a mixture of anger, guilt and grief. As had been mentioned, we can only hope the VA will step up and provide him the counseling he needs.
He still hasn't returned to base, mostly because I think he's concerned about what his punishment is going to be. I've tried to convince him that sooner is better than later, but who knows. His CO has assured me that they will certainly take his mental and emotional state into consideration and I'm sure they will be quite fair.
Anyway, thanks again to all. Now it's time to get back to work!
Take care and God bless.
Bill
P.S. We would also ask that we remember the following fallen soldiers and pray for the families who will be missing them this Christmas:
SSgt John Stock
Sgt Michael Yarbrough
Cpl Christopher Poole
Cpl Bryan Scripsick
Cpl John Tanner
