If you search the other threads, "Failsfe evo problems", OCP was the one who refered me to Bill for custom tunes. Contradicting???

OCP seems to have a BIG problem with everything having to do with Edge and/or Bill, doesn't he?
He gave me a short/cutesy answer to what I thought was a legitimate question about shift points on another thread recently - seems more interested in displaying how smart/informed/surperior he is to everyone else than the concept of helping out with useful information. I've decided to simply ignore his advice. (You have to be a little suspicious of anyone who names his vehicle with the name he chose - pretty sophomoric humor. But, maybe I'm just too old to appreciate it - you be the judge).
I haven't even thought up a cute name for my truck yet. I just call it the "Ford". Seems to fit the way it looks.

Ok... let's back off OCP for just a second. While abrasive, he actually has a point here. Rest assured, I have a contract in my possesion that proves I have a deal with Edge to custom tune the Evolution. So let's drop that whole subject.
Moving on...
Edge obviously has concerns about how allowing custom tuning the Evo is going to affect their plans to get CARB certification on their products, including the Evolution.
For those who are not aware, Casper's Electronics was sued by the EPA for selling devices that would basically tamper with or defeat emissions control devices. (See: Casper's vs. EPA) This lawsuit set a precedent that undoubtedly will carry far and wide across the automotive aftermarket and will in effect force out any companies or individuals that create or sell devices that can alter any part of the emissions control system. This will include things like EGR block offs, O2 eliminators, CAIs, exhausts, cat delete kits, and yes... even chips and programmers.
Obviously, the liability for a company like Edge to offer custom tuning for the Evolution is an area of great concern. When I left Edge in May and had my tuning deal set up with them, the "Casper's" fiasco had not occurred yet. At that time, they felt that with my knowledge and experience that I would be qualified and able to provide a service to an area of the market that sorely need some assistance. Obviously it would improve sales as well. Hey, they're not stupid.
Well... I had a long talk with Edge yesterday and we specifically discussed the issue of CARB and EPA, and what that means for the future of custom tuning for the Evolution. It may mean that in the short term we might have to back off on custom tuning for a bit while other possibilities are investigated. It may also mean that custom tuning will come to a grinding halt. It's kind of up in the air at this point until we can get something figured out. I can't discuss details any further than that.
I will continue to browse the forums to provide technical support and troubleshooting for those who have (or have had) any issues with their Evolutions. However, I have decided not to discuss custom tuning preferring to wait until Edge and I can come to some sort of agreement that makes everyone comfortable.
I know this may come as a disappointment to some people. Just when there was light at the end of the tunnel, it went and got dark outside.
Hopefully we'll get this figured out in the next couple days and get back to making the Evolution the power-monster we know it is capable of.
Stay Tuned...
Bill
