I don't recall a tranny failure with the Edge. I have 60,000 miles on my truck, 30,000 of them with the Edge, most on Level 3. No problems at all.

If you are unable to download the software off of the internet, then i would recommend using the CD that comes with the programmer. If yours did not come with one then i would recommend contacting Edge. The main two problems on downloading the software is first the firewall and second the drivers. If the firewall block certain parts of the software then the drivers will not load properly and will cause it not to function.
Usually it is a pretty easy fix. If you download the software and it doesn't work then i would recommend turning off the firewall and go into your properties and advance features and reinstall the drivers for the lightning software.

Hee Hee Hee! But yes, bashing Edge will certainly earn you a poke in the eye from me!
Now, I am the FIRST one to admit that the Evo has had it's problems, but I have yet to see one ruin a tranny. Most of the existing problems have been resolved and the few remaining are being taken care of as fast as we can.
Now... moving on.
To locate the current version numbers, go to the main menu, select [Diagnostics] and then select [Version Info]. There are two different versions of Evos and these are the latest versions...
Old Version:
E3.22.28 (where 22 is the firmware and 28 is the calibration)
New Version:
Firmware: 2.50.2657
Calibration: 1.0.3839
As for the update software, Lighting will soon be obsolete. Because of all the problems with FTP access being blocked by firewalls, Edge is finishing the final touches on their latest downloader software which is all HTTP based and doesn't have firewall issues. I am not sure when it will be ready for release but will certainly post something when it is ready to go.
For those in DIRE need, updates can be applied via e-mail if necessary. Contact Edge Tech Support if you fall into this category.
Hope this helps.

Could the Edge have an effect on this? I also have had bad spark knock while program 2 is installed. I switched to 93 octane fuel and haven't heard it ping since. My truck is a 2006 KR. I am currently running an airaid intake and the programer is set to stock. I'd like to get rid of that throttle lag & gain the performance back that the Edge provided earlier. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Bill,
Add me to the list of problem-free Edge owners (I guess that makes 3 of us). My *ONLY* complaint about the unit is that I cannot adjust for tire size - when I try to set it, I get a message that it is not available. I got around it by playing with my gear ratio setting.
I was in the Beta program and have been very happy with it.

New Edge Evo Owner
I got an Edge Evo for xmas, I have had it on l level two and haven't had any problems with it at all. I have changed the tire size as I have 265/70r17's which is not what the programmer says is stock for my expedition. I also changed shift firmness and WOT fuel. I haven't set it to level three yet as I have not yet filled up with 91 octane , who knows when or if I ever will, that stuff is expensive.
I have not updated any programming from the website nor have I checked out the CD they sent, I didn't see any need to yet until I read this forum. Should I download any updates, or should I wait until they fix these problems that all of you are talking about?
Thanks,
Doug

The only reason I run 93 is because I only or mostly drive my truck on the weekends. I have a car I drive to save on gas during the week.
