Edge or Troyer.....

So it seems really split, between who likes the Troyer and who liked the Edge Evolution.

So,

I have a 2007 F-150 4x4....

I see the Edge brand new is about $450, while used its around $300-350

Can anyone list out the pro's and con's of each tuner?

And how much the Troyer goes for?

Thanks

I had an Edge until a few days ago. I sold it and am patiently waiting for my Troyer tunes. I had a shudder with my truck when running it in level 3, a few other here have this issue too. I always ran mine in level 2 because of it. That was ok until dealer reflashed my PCM, it created a few other drivability issues. My screen went bad on mine so Edge sent me a brand new unit. I decided to sell it and give Troyer a chance.
This will make it a 3rd tuner on my truck. From all the other post I've read Praising Mike Toyer's tunes, I'm sure I'll be happier with his tunes over the Edge, besides I think his price is a little cheaper for 3 custom tunes with the X-cal II.

Depends on what you think is better for your truck..

You can get the Edge in probably less than a week, nice gauges too.. but hsa nothing to do with your particular vehicle.. generic tunes for "F150"..

Troyer asks you to provide info on any and everything specific to your vehicle and then writes tunes for YOU..

The Edge sells new for the same price as an Xcal 2 with 3 tunes written for your specific vehicle by Troyer.

About $449 for either one.. Though there is a discount on the Xcal from Troyer for being a member here..

I'm all biased now though since I just got my tunes from TP today and I'm still trippin' on what a difference it's made.. LOL

I recommend TP. I’ve been running Mike’s custom tuning since 12-03-2004 and never had any problems; ultra reliable and they feel as fresh today as day one; da’bomb

Why not add VMP Tuning to that list? VMP's tunes are on par with Troyers tunes by far, some actually reported better 0-60 and 1/4 miles times as well as the same or better driveability, not to mention the turn around time is MUCH shorter.

i previously had the edge. it added some nice power to your truck, i liked that, but the driveability was not great on my truck. my transmission did not adapt well at all to the edge.

i ordered tunes from Troyer Performance and will hopefully have them by thanksgiving or so. i use my truck for hauling stuff quite often, and sometimes driving at elevation, and the edge had issues with that. Troyers tunes will give you good power but at the same time keep your truck safe and help it last a long time, which i have trouble believing the edge would do.

and BTW, Mike has been working on that backlog of tunes and the wait is being significantly shortened, so i wouldn't worry about that

I would go with Troyer over Edge. I have the Edge now and my Troyer stuff is on order. I'm just tired of the occassional shudder and I think custom tunes will provide better performance.

Thump,

I know you like to throw out the name VMP at any and every opportunity you get - regardless if the thread is about VMP or not - but my experience with him [Justin] was terrible.

Maybe - and I'm merely tossing numbers around here - my poor experience reflects only one in one-hundred he's done business with, but as far as I'm concerned, his customer service sux!

He may have great products [tunes], as you so often whistle, but, when it comes to successful business sense, the guy doesn't know his left hand from his right.... read: he has NFC!

That's why I'm trying to get in touch with Mike at Troyer Performance.

PS: I'm not talking about him not answering phone calls like I revealed in another thread... I actually communicated with him on several emails and then BAM! it hit a brick wall.

Got my Troyer tunes only yesterday and just had a chance, like an hour ago, to do some real highway driving.. it's just stupid how quick the truck goes from 65 to 85... stoopid!!

I mean like just a feather touch to the pedal and okay I done passed 'em.. slow down!!.. LOL

I can't say enough about how much better the throttle response is now, the shifts are just perfect..

Yes, that is a decent wait, buy you know it's all worth it if you're happy with it at the day's end.

Congratulations.
