Antivirus and any other non-essential apps turned off on the pc? You need all the resources you can get - and a capable laptop.
Also - try searching the SCT support forum - like this: http://www.sctflash.com/forum/showth...ization+failed
Say .... is this a test?
I just tryed to install a file that the sct rep told some people to do on that forum thread you gave me. Again, nothing but error codes and premissioned to access files was denied. This is really starting to aggravate that hell out of me.
Using LiveLink v4.17?

You may need to dig a little more on SCT's board and/or post up the problem over there for assistance from an SCT tech.
The problem with all of this is the near-infinite matrix of pc configurations - some have been known to have issues - SCT needs the feedback to resolve this.
Sorry - if you've followed the procedures, running a 'clean' pc with current LL software, good USB cable, etc - and I have no reason to doubt that you have - then I'm outta ideas. I have not personally had this occur - although judging from the postings on the SCT site it does happen.
(BTW - Does the Xcal2 communicate with the PCM connected by itself to the vehicle?)
Hmmm - access denied .. you are running as a local admin on your XP SP2 laptop right? If it's running Vista - there are issues - see page 5

Wow easy now, im not a computer guru. I have windows vista, and im using the usb cable that came with the xcal2. Just out of curiosity, what does the section on the xcal2 about data capture do? I tried to select it, but it just says no file installed.

Data capture - allows you to do some rudimentary datalogging directly onto the Xcal2 without using a laptop. Also known as 'on-device' datalogging, as opposed to 'pass-through', where a PCM->Xcal2->laptop configuration is used.
You still need the pc to intially set up the config on the Xcal2 - and it's limited to only a few PID's (and no Analog data from a widband) and duration due to memory limitations on the device itself. So - for the type of logging you need to perform it's not really suitable.
Hey - where is everyone else - I need help here fellas!

EDIT - First 5 digits of the strategy, for logging, is all that is required. That's not the problem - Vista is.

FordScrew,
I can't offer any help with all that you and MGD were talking about but the truck having no power off the line is not right for sure and the tire compound thing?????? What? I have the same set up of AF1 3.5/Magnaflow/Troyer tunes and my truck now has major mid range power over previous and a lot of initial power too. As far a roasting tires.....not. Maybe a couple of feet of rubber tops. The only place I didn't see significant power gains was above 4k rpm but there was still some there so something is definitely wrong with your stuff. The tunes should feel way better than stock as far as mid power and shifts especially but you have to remember that all this isn't suddenly going to make the truck a rocket. How long have you had the tunes and why didn't you get it worked out right away? Stay on them if they aren't responsive as you paid good money for that stuff. You should try calling Troyer this morning, I already talked to them so they are answering and helping out. Neil is good to talk to also. Good luck.

I called them about a week after i installed the tunes and af1 about my problem and she said to datalog which im not able to get working. I called back about a week later about the error messages and no help was given. I had kind of given up with the whole thing until now. I see all these posts about "stock monsters" and i get to thinking. You know how that goes!!!
Ive had the tunes since early august. I've just been too busy to really worry about it. Also it seems that once the adaptive sets in, the truck kind of calms down on the power side. That doesnt make sense seeing i drive it medium to hard most of the time.

Keep calling and ask for Neil (I think that's his name) or Mike T. I had an occasional stumble upon initial throttle that they were able to work out quickly via phone. If I ever have to datalog I'll run it up to VMP just outside of Orlando and get a dyno tune at the same time. That would finally force me to do that and kill two birds with one stone (probably do this one day anyway as I'm curious to see the numbers just to know if it's getting everything it can). Troyer's just so far unless it ties into a vacation or something. I see you are in Florida too so you can't be more than half a day or so from VMP. Anyway good luck and don't give up b/c this set up really does work extremely well when running properly.
You might hear people roasting them because they might have a different set up from your truck. All depends what type of rear end, body/bed style you have also. A base F150 two door cab with a 5.5 or 6ft bed is going to be ALOT lighter then the luxo Lincoln LT Supercrew.
