Superchips are the only ones who can reset it.

Good luck.

Tell your buddy to return his truck to stock. It is vin locked cause his truck is still programmed

^ X2 ^

If you can't, then the cost to send it back to Superchips for an unlock would likely exceed the residual value of the unit by a wide margin.

This doesn't alter the fact that you still need Superchips to reset the programer.

I may be wrong... dunno.

WTF are you talking about??? If the OP got the superchips from his friend I am assuming the friend was using it in his truck. The friend never returned his truck to stock so the superchip is useless. If the guy reloaded his stock tune from the superchip there is no reason it would not work on another truck.

Since it is "vin-locked" He WILL need to send it to SuperChips to have it unlocked. End of story!

Fyi - Canned Superchips tuners of the 17xx and 18xx families Vin-Unlock upon a return to stock.

If that was done, good to go on any subsequent supported vehicle.

If that was not done - back to SC it must go.

You can check in the online manals, but I know this because I've actually done it.

Are we arguing in circles here?

END OF STORY???? You atleast gotta tell us how you pulled your foot out of your mouth??? What dont you get??? If the OP's "friend" returned his truck to stock before he sold it to the OP than there is no reason for it to be Vin-Locked.

Take it easy tuff guy...

I was always under the impression that a "vin-locked" SC tuner needs to be sent back to Superchips.
