Read This If You Have Custom Edge Issues !!!!

You know, I have never looked into that... So lets see if it is possible.
RXCM4DZ (5L3A-ASH) -> RXCM5D6 (5L3A-CFB)
RXCM5D6 (5L3A-CFB) -> RXCM5D8 (5U7A-DVA)
It looks as if there is no way to change it into the RXD or TEJ families using the Ford tools. I suspect that due to differences in the PCM's bootloader, it would not be possible to even force such a code into the PCM. Even if it was possible and it didn't completely screw up the Electronic Throttle, you'd still need to fix the PATS.
It was a good thought...
TexasGirl,
I'd hold of on an update for just a bit. I want to get as many of these stupid little kinks out as I can before I suggest an update. If you do have a *specific* issue that is causing a problem with running or function, then there might be an update to address, but don't update just to update. At least not yet...

Hiya Bill...
TexasGirl brings up a good point. There is a lot of urban legend and uncertainty surrounding the requirement (or not) of returning to stock before changing levels (just judging by all the posts that referenced that procedure).
Can y'all help clear that uncertainty up, once and for all?
Thanks.

I have Edge issues at level 2 setting with just a tire size change, when programing is complete and I start the truck it idles at 2100 rpm and revs higher on its own. I immediately returned it back to stock, glad it excepted the programming to go back to stock.
I call edge they tell me to update it on line which I did, that didnt help at all.
My current calibration is dated 8/8/07 at 1.0.3120 BETA
My current firmware is 2.50.2995
The on line update read "UNSTABLE" version 2.50.3657
Any help here.

Okay...
NO! You do not have to return to stock to change levels. You DO have to return to stock when you do an online update. Simple as dat!
Z,
I need a HEX code before I can offer any advice, although it's a safe bet the you will need to update the firmware as it is quite a bit out of date.
Let me know.

First of all, hello,,, and welcome.
I too have the level 3 shudder, and I also have a couple software issue's as well. But after I recieved the "unstable" update to fix the custom options,, I have taylored my level 2 settings to feel like level 3 and it's running great so far with 3 mpg better mileage. (Keeping the foot out of it of course.)
You could try that and at least maybe be able to get some good enjoyment out of it while you wait with us for the full fix to all this.
I have found that running my shift points out far and then setting the timming up .25 at a time for each run, the truck feels a lot like it's on level 3 for the most part.
I ended up settling on timming at 1.75 - 2. (Running 89oct w boost)
1-2 shift @ highest setting, 2-3 @ highest setting, and 3.4 around 8 and 9.
RPMs @ 5200 and 5000 on 3rd
Anyhow, if your not having the custom options problem give that a try.

Don't worry 05, She'll be allright with it. I don't run your every day advance auto boosters. I was just letting it be known that Im not running it low oct.
And I cant mention what Im smoking.

ok next problem.. a new one it seems. went from level 1 to level 2. drove about 2 miles, not fully warmed. I am running shell 89 oct. fuel. (yes.. I took advise from MGD and upped my oct. level.. no pinging now) Turned right onto a surface street, and got on it a little. Then the truck went into failsafe mode. Threw a code of P061. I reset it and went on my merry way. I have driven about 100 miles since with no problem. Did a 0-60 test and got a 7.27 time... best yet BUT... from 1st to second shift it stuttered... like it shifted 3 or 4 times... is this the dreaded problem that people are having with level 3?
specs on truck...
my HEX is RXDG4B2.HEX
Boot loader V1.00b
product E3.22.27
firmware 22
2007 screw with the 5.4, 3.73 gears, 17,000 miles on the truck.
magnaflow SIDO exhaust.

Any custom options on the tune? Every once in a while I get a complaint of an odd 1-2 shift. In most cases, the WOT 1-2 shift and the Rev Limiter are too close for that particular application.
I'd either try raising the rev limiter 100 to 200 RPM or drop the 1-2 WOT shift 100 to 200 RPM. Let me know if that helps.
Thanks.

only thing I did was increase WOT fuel to 1.65, and speed limiter to 110. Now on the highway today with the speed control set, it shuddered now and then. Going down in speed with the speed control, then back up made the truck feel very strange and shaky. I am about to take the damn thing back to stock. I don't want my expensive truck wrecked.

At what speed was this occurring? It sounds like the 50 MPH shudder that the earlier trucks were experiencing, although they only had the problem on level 3 while you have it on level 2. Very strange. Let me know so I can get a look at the files and see if there are some similar modifications that could be causing the problem.
Thanks.

Hey... I sure apreciate the help. It was happening at 60 mph. I have driven the last day or two at 50 mph and have had no problem with the shifting. In fact it has been running better than ever. It seems to me that the lockup clutch is is being cycled. I don't know the mechanics of how the converter lockup works.. seems to me a solenoid is involved. That may be a direction to look?
