I do have to ask though.. 38% tint to your windshield? Are there no laws in AZ about tinting the windows?

Yes, a knock sensor retards when it detects detonation - and the lower the octane, the less advance it can handle before it detonates. The more advance, the more power and better economy.
I had a 2.8 V6 Beretta with a 5 speed - on 87 it got 29 mpg on the highway and on 93 it got 32. It also had noticeably more punch on 93.
