First you are going to buy an '07.
Then you are going to buy a Roush for it.
Now, you are going to buy an Edge as the tuner for this aledged truck.
Then you just saw this GT you want to buy, even as your already-ordered F150 is 'on it's way'. Wow.
And or course, you now want to drop a Whipple in the GT.
You have done none of the above, nor do I believe you are ever going to.
There's something in that formula your mama is feeding you, kid; your credibility now = zero.

exactly. I think they had a stock truck that had a bad tune, or they fudged the numbers. but the edge numbers look reasonable. So 50 hp... no. 25? sure. MGDfan.. I am suprised it took you so long to come and bash the edge....

2. My post wasn't about the Edge.
Try again, weiner!

In honor of the 50 RWHP claim, I shall raise the flag...

Ok maybe not 50rwhp but I just saw it in a magazine that has good rep so I posted it. But I must say, some of you guys (you know who I am talking about) are complete *** holes. You read something that doesn't sound right and you go off on ME!
MGDFan, your my little bitch

I think the fact the truck was only getting 60% of its hp to the rear wheels should be a clue something is off. 25% loss is probably a better estimate on RWHP. Also, if there was a 50hp gain from the tune alone, don't you think Ford would do something to boost numbers from factory to compete with the other truck makers?
The 04+ F150s have about 30% power loss in the drivetrain, so stock you would be around 200 rwhp. 179 rwhp is pretty low unless something was wrong with the truck, or the dyno.
I remember reading this article a while ago and thinking the 50 HP claims were way overstated, too. I agree that 20-25 additional RWHP is a much more reasonable figure.
IIRC, normally aspirated engines lose about 3% of their HP per 1000' of altitude. The tests in that article were run at Edge's facility in Utah, which is about 5000' above sea level. If we assume a properly operating F-150 has 210 RWHP at sea level, then it would be reasonable to assume its uncorrected RWHP would be about (210 * .97^5 = 180) at 5000'. Now, suppose the Edge adds 20 RWHP to our test truck, for a total of 230 (at sea level). Of course, at 5000', we would only expect to see about 198 RWHP (a true gain of about 18 HP). However, if we were to incorrectly compare the altitude-uncorrected stock RWHP to the altitude-corrected Edge programming, we would have a perceived gain of 230-180 = 50 RWHP.
Without being able to recall the specifics of the article, I'm guessing there are some issues here with adjusting the horsepower figures to account for the altitude differential.

It may be a reputable magazine but, because it's in print doesn't make it factual... and I don't say that to be an a-hole... not at all... just basically pointing out that you read it, posted it, and then bellied up to the bar with an unprovoked cheapshot at Troyer. It was in the pipeline before you clicked 'Submit Post'.
Again, I'm not poking at you... just calling a spade a spade.
BTW, my BS flag was posted in good humor. Yeah, it was a bit of 'piling on' and wasn't necessary but, I rarely get the opportunity to post that little jewel.
Apparently Edge did the test and I would be willing to bet that Edge and their parent company are advertisers in that magazine. That is enough said for the 50 hp claim. There was one guy that did a post months ago after dynoing with the Edge and as I recall, he had about 25 hp gain. I have the Edge, love the thing for what it is and what it does. I hate to see threads like this get started that opens it up for ridicule. I also hate to see manufacturers that falsely advertise or allow false information, just to boost sales. The product should be good enough to sell it's self and the Edge is good enough. It is if they market it for it's merits and then give great customer service(which has been lacking).

as to the Troyer comment, he has nothing to fear from Edge...
anyway, all is cool.....
So, it appears the webmaster has done some housekeeping in here so I'm gonna post in this thread. I've had the EDGE for around 2 months now and have only been using it in level 2 w/ 87, but I have a big road trip coming up (basically a day of 21 hrs straight driving) so I figured I'd give the truck some time to learn the level 3 91 octane settings. Took it on the highway and
It really pulls when it kicks down now, I'd never use level 3 for town driving since it seems pretty gutless below 2.5k but on the highway, incredible. sorry to hijack but I can't find the old edge impressions posts.
