I just tried my "broken" edge on my friends truck and it programmed perfectly.
Looks like my truck is "broken" I am going to the dealer today so they can charge me $50 to flash the ecu. If the edge doesnt work after this I'm just going to sell it to my buddy for $380

does the Edge unit get VIN locked? and do you have to keep the unit plugged in to enjoy the tune?

Hi.

Any flash tuner gets VIN locked.

And you can remove any flash tuner at any time - the tunes remain in the PCM & operational until replaced.

The 12th Trident - Awesome boat !

When you program back to stock you are able to use the edge on any other tuck. You could buy the Edge, use it for 2months and as long as you return to the stock tune you could sell it no problem

Hi.

Look at the bright side - there is nothing wrong with your truck after all

So - return it / sell it for a profit. Invest in a custom tuner that does support your code.

Good luck.

Cheers

What is your truck's 6-digit hex code? My truck's hex code is RXCM5E4 -- I'm using the Edge without any problems at all. (2005 Supercrew FX4, 5.4L, no other performance mods).

EDIT: Disregard--I found your other thread where you provide your 6-digit hex code (RXCM5A6). Just out of curiosity, did Edge's tech support tell you that they do not support your specific hex? Regardless, I hope you get it figured out.

Mine programs but I can't make any custom changes except tire size and gear ratio. He told me I have an odd Hex file. The bad thing is they didn't seem like they would have an answer anytime soon. He told me the guy who does the programming is leaving the company and they have no one else to work on them now. I think I am going to sell mine in the classifieds and move on.

Based on your description of the issue and the fact that you've experienced the same error with two different devices (and at least one of the "broken" devices successfully programmed your friend's F-150), I suspect the problem is--unfortunately--with your truck.

You could try another brand of tuner--such as the XCal II--but if the problem is with your truck, I wouldn't expect the results to be any different.

Definatly not my truck. This is Edge's F-up they are selling a product without making sure it works. Im not pissed about this, its a new motor and the guys at Edge need time to work out all the bugs. Sucks that it doesnt work on my truck but I have 2 options either hold on to the edge and hope they come out with an update or sell it for profit, even if i get $320 for it i make $1.56 but since the price hike im sure someone would pay $350-400. I E-mailed TP last week but havent gotten a reply.

Well, it's been quite a while (at least, according to my imperfect memory ) since the owner of a 2005 model year truck posted that his calibration wasn't supported by the Edge. You've already determined your Edge is working correctly (by programming your friend's truck), and Edge tech support indicates your PCM strategy is supported.

You've eliminated the possibility that your Edge is defective; the only remaining factor is a possible issue with the truck.

In any event, I sincerely wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi.

What part of " it's not his truck" don't you get? "Unsupported" does NOT equal "defective". Jeez.

He has a strategy code that is problematic for Edge - the family may be supported (RCXM5), but a strategy code is really fully 7 digits.

TP will have absolutely no problems providing a custom tune for that code. Period. Call & find out for yourself.
