I run the same setting for level 3 with 93 octane except I bump the timing +1.5

The trannies are significantly different - the 4R70w you have is less tolerant of line presrure increases via tuning than the 4R75E in BJ's truck. As such, it's advisable to be more conservative with those increases. Consider a shift kit.
The shift point settings are actually derived from Mike Troyer's advice - and BJ's are slightly lower, in fact. Mine are right at 5400 for the first two.
BJ knows what he's doing & the risks involved. I pound on him simply because he takes it gracefully
Plus he's worth saving, so I keep trying
As others have stated - baby steps. Keep track of all your changes & their perceived effects in a logbook - it helps. Keep in mind also every truck is different.

Also, does anyone know the best way to set it to achieve the best fuel economy.
Lastly, can you customize Level 1 the same as Level 2 or 3, or is that just for transmission settings.

Buying a truck and worrying about the fuel mileage is like marrying a fat chick and worrying about the grocery bill

Yeah, that's hilarious.
So is my gas bill.
Not like I didn't know these obvious observations already.
Thing is, I'm thinking if I adjust Level 1 for low rpm shifting, it should result in better fuel economy, right? I'd then use this for city driving, where racing between stop lights is just useless.
I'd switch to level two for the open road.
Not sure how to use level 3 yet.
Intelligent insights are welcome.

Well, you know that every time you re-flash, it resets the PCM & clears out all the adaptive strategy optimizations that accrued over the drive cycles driven up to that point.
So - if you flash city/open road/city fairly frequently, you lose those benefits - which include better shifts and even economy, as the fuel trims are going to be suboptimal most of the time...it can take several hundred miles/several drive cycles for the adaptive function to 'mature'.
I don't think you'll be any better off, as opposed to just leaving it on a level you are happy with - don't forget, if the tune is working properly, a light throttle foot will let the tranny upshift sooner anyway ( as the load requirements allow) - mine sure does - so the best approach is as already stated previously - just pretend there is an egg between your tootsies and the go pedal.
Just sayin' ...
Ok, thanks for that insight.
Too bad that happens with the PCM. I guess an optimal tuner would save all those settings when you change tunes so they get uploaded again next time you reflash that level.
One thing I have noticed with the fuel monitoring PID's on the edge, that you can adapt your throttle foot to the IMPG readout and kind of coast the truck more in city traffic. Hopefully that helps, but at the same time it's nice to feel the extra ***** when you get on it, too.

Seriously, good point about the tranny differences. To answer Bigmark's question tho, I have just over 15,000 miles and those are my settings for all my driving. Some of the settings are seldome used as I seldom go WOT. I will make a trip this next week and will go to Level 3 for the highway, but will keep the same settings, except the timing will be bumped up for 93 octane.BTW, thanks for the kind words.
