Edge guys..this question is for you

My edge is here. I have read the manual, cover to cover. Now I have two question that are not addressed in the manual.
1. Will I have any problems with the overdrive; will I have to turn off the overdrive under standard driving conditions?

2. I think I read in a post on this site that the edge tunes can be loaded into the PCM and the edge unit can then be disconnected and removed from the truck. If so, what is the procedure?
Thanks for the help......

The Edge had no effect on my overdrive other than it seemed to lock up a little firmer. Works great

If you don't want the monitor for displaying, you just unplug it from under the dash once it is completely thru programming. You new program is saved to your truck.

1......You shouldn't have any problems with your overdrive.

2.....You just set your settings, load, and when its complete just unhook your edge and thats it. Once the screen says LOAD COMPLETED ,your good to just unhook it

just ride around with level 2 for a while, once you have a feel for what you want to change then change it, no sense turning your truck into a large lawn ornament just cuz you're excited. not trying to be mean just don't want to see your truck go down cuz you were monkyin' without knowing what you actually wanted. good luck

What's the proper procedure for plugging the edge back in?

For instance, loaded tune 2, unplug the edge from PCM port while truck is off. What is the proper way to plug it back in? Truck is running, plug in? Or ignition on, plug in, then fire her up?

Just wondering.

87 octane:

shift RPMs: 1-2=5250 2-3=5250 3-4=4800
Max RPMS: 5600
speed: 110
Shift pressure: +12 on all shifts
normal shifts: no change
timing: no change on level 2 running 87
WOT Fuel: +1.5

I run the same setting for level 3 with 93 octane except I bump the timing +1.5

The edge doesn't care how or when you plug it in. It makes NO difference whatsoever. It can be running, off, on accesory, dead battery, upside down, it doesn't matter.

according to the paper in my edge box it states to make sure the key is on before you plug the edge in to the truck!
