Livewire Q?

Does anyone have these yet. How do you like them? Are they as good as the Xcal II with custom tune from Troyer Performance?

I'm with ya on that. Its freakin huge from the pictures I've seen . I was all ready to get it too. Glad I saw pictures of it. If they would have made it touch screen like the A2's and shaved the size down...I'd be all over this like stink on cow patties. Plus from what I've read you have to physically turn the unit off before you turn your truck off otherwise you loose all of the personalized settings your monitoring (like temps and such). If you don't...it resets all these monitoring settings back to default. Oh well, maybe in LiveWire v2.0...they fix these deal breaking (at least for me) problems.

Hi fright,

Actually, the reality is that nobody in this thread have ever even put their hands on one of these units in real life - they've just seen pictures, and that doesn't tell you much. Certainly not about the perspective of size - and for it's features, the unit is not particularly large - we are converting all of our vehicles to use them.

The truth is, the unit is very convenient to use, has a fantastic array of features, we can load it with our same Troyer Performance custom tuning, and you can mount it on your windshield or on top of your dash if you want to have it display gauges, or do 1/4 mile runs, 0-60 times, or any of it's other great features while you are driving. No other unit has all of it's features at such a great price.

Now in terms of actual vehicle performance, there is no difference - that's the tuning that determines that, and you will get the same tuning when you order our custom tuning, whether you order it in the XCalibrator 2 or in the LiveWire - so it's a matter of all do you want to have all of those neat features it has & thus have the latest & greatest, basically.

So the reality is the device works very nicely, and we are shipping a good deal of them out at this time, as I mentioned to you in that other thread.

I hope that info helps a bit, & please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over any of this in more detail.

Mike,

Can you post a picture of a mounted unit in one of your vehicles? That would be awesome.

Also if I decided to get the livewire and since I purchased your custom tuning with the xcal2 could you just reload those tunes that you have on file to the livewire and ship it? Or would I have to go through the whole customer worksheet deal again?

Hi Whoodatt & everyone,

Actually, I'd love to do just that!! But we have not yet had the time to mount them in our vehicles, believe it or not - we're swamped in customer project vehicles to the point that everything we want to do to all of our hot rods is on hold at the moment. Also (and you're really going to laugh at this!), I have to admit that I've never figured out how to post pics up here on this site - and Iv;'e been here 10 darn years, go figure!

The best I can do at the moment is give you dimensions, just as I did before -and it's roughly 6 inches wide by about 2.5 inches tall by about a inch deep. So it's not a huge unit by any means, especially when we're talking about mounting it on the dash in the center - which is where I could mount it, so that it can be easily seen. Or you can mount it to the windshield if you prefer. Personally, I think the size is fine for a unit that has it's size of screen & all it's features - which is why as soon as we get a chance to breathe around here, we're converting all of our vehicles over to LiveWire.

Now I just need 30 hours in a day....................

Hi Jakazz,

Yes indeed, we are now shipping them - there have been 4 updates to it's firmware, and we're now happy with them & they are working fine on these trucks, so we have been shipping them for a little while now, maybe a week or so, roughly, I think?
