Here are some of my mods
K&N 77 series
Flowmaster 40 catback
edge level 2
I told ya before - you choice of mods isn't helping matters

It's Xcal2+AF1+Magnaflow - works every time. Biggest single improvement is the TP custom tuning.

Also - adding 4:10 or lower will help a lot too to get you launched. Since you probably don't want to toss what you already invested in, then consider this route.

Folks are getting the same RWHP with the 4.6 as the stock 5.4...

As usual - search for the details. It's there.

Cheers
Bubba

so a 4.6 with package(Troyer tune, magnaflow, AF1) isn't quicker than a stock 5.4? I thought after these mods a 4.6 could take a 5.4 fairly easy.

Hi.

Well, the problem remains a torque issue. The 5.4 3V is a stroker with an abundant amount of low end, coming in very low in the rpm range. You need to wind the 4.6 some to get it going.

A late model, particularly '06, '07 4.6, so equipped, would do pretty good though. Peak HP number is approx the same, torque is still lower, but the throttle response, shifting and shift points are vastly better. Dunno...just maybe?

Add decent gears, reg cab, etc - there are some really quick 4.6's here too.

As always, trucks still weigh about the same; a LOT.

Roger that. Can you imagine a reg cab short bed 4x2, 4.10's, 5.4 3V, custom tuned for 93 oct, etc... minus 1,000lbs of weight? Better make that a 4x4 so it will actually be able to hook on launch

yes that is what i am running it is horriable, I had the new Toyota Tundra pass me like if I was parked yesterday man I was pissed. Man I dont think there is any hope for the 4.6L I mean they run 248 stock and a 5.4 runs 300 with my mods I am now probably running around 300hp thats why the 5.4L are so much faster because with an CAI, tune and exhaust they are pushing anywhere from 350-375 hp. Thats how you get the 7's 0-60 times. 4.6l best hope is 10- maybe 9 without having to add a supercharger.

From 248 crank to 300 crank with your mods? Not a chance in hell.

Flows - 0 to -0 gains
K&N - perhaps 1-5 HP - peak
Edge L2 - perhaps 20-25 HP (and I'm being generous here)

Besides - it's the torque difference, (not the peak HP number) & where it is under the curve, as already indicated.

And why does your sig still say FX4 4.6L ???

Sorry.

huh... I could have sworn from another exhaust thread that he had the 5.4 My mistake there. If he does have the 4.6L he is way off in his power estimates after those mods...

My bad when first got on here I was thinking my truck was a 5.4 until I looked at the Purchase sticker and saw it was a 4.6L. You have to understand I was not a truck guy in the past my last car was a 2004 Mercades e 320 so when i got my truck i didnt know what i was getting just knew i wanted something pretty and 4X4. My sig say Fx4 becasue it is and I was told my flow would give me 10hp and K&N another 10-15hp and the edge about 35hp. I havent dynod it so I dont know for sure all I know is that my truck is running a little better because of the edge but not sure if the CAI and Exhaust helped me any in horsepower. My flows do sound tuff though.
