Ok, i re-installed the lightning software several times and was unable to get anywhere on updating. Called Edge and they guided through the install and then confirmed that the drivers were not being installed and all they could say was keep un-installing and re-installing the program. Any one else have this problem, what can i do to get around it? Thanx Leroy

 

Wish I could help you but I just downloaded it the other night and worked fine. After the install a pop up window came up asking to install the drivers and I did..that was right. Next needed to hook up the Edge unit but it would not work. After two calls to Edge we decided it was a bad USB cable. When I got off the phone with Edge I remembered I had one that woluld work so I plugged it in and windows picked it up and installed two more dirivers and has been working good since.

 

Yeah it said installing drivers but still doesn't work, i already tried a new spare cable i had laying around.

 

Make sure your anti-virus and security are off during the download.

 

I have heard that you must turn off your anti virus and firewall to get a successful update. Thats what I did and havd had no problems with getting an update or performance in the truck.

 

Read the same on the firewall and ativirus thing but so far on my Norton protection system I have been ok on the updates without turning it off.

 

When you plug the unit in does it show its connected in the bottom of the Lighting program? One thing Edge had me do is when I plug the unti in hold down the menu and it should power the unit up if everything is working there. Then the program should regonize it that it is on and ask you to turn it off. From there it should ask to install the other drivers. Just trying to help as much as I can...if any...lol Good luck and keep us updated

 

No the thing shows that its disconnected and i then tried with the security options off. Still not working right, i then installed it and now cannot custom tune on any level not even for tire size, forgot what it says.

 

your usb driver for the edge didnt install right.

If your running windows xp follow these steps, with the edge pluged in.

1) left click on the start button lower left hand corner

2) right click on my computer, then left click properties

3)left click on hardware icon

4) left click on device manager

5) scroll down to universal serial bus controls, should say something about the edge it will have a esclimation point in a yellow box.

6 double click that, and reinstall the edge usb driver, by double clicking and follow the prompts.

I had to do it, I had the same problem.

Thanx guys but Fordsoldier hit it right on the spot, so yeah it worked i have been busy enjoying the custom tunes.
Wish though, Edge would have been able to help on that but not this time.
