Anyone used to the new Edge Tuner for 1997-2003 F-150's?

I'm interested in buying the new Evolution tuner for my 1997 f-150 4.6. Has anyone used the tuner on a set up similar to mine yet? I would like to know how much of a performance difference it makes and whether anyone else thinks it is worth the $400. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that tuner is still in it's BETA stage.

I'd DEFINAETLY go with the Troyer Tuned Xcal2.

It made a difference in my 97 5.4..... The shifts are smooth and firm, and the initial takeoff is a lot stronger. It seems to do much better around 3,300+ whereas it used to fall on its face. I don't know how fast it will go now but I got it up to 1 the other day and it was still going! One of my favorite things, is that it will spin a little if you punch the gas, and if you hold the brake, and let it warm up a bit, it will lay duals in the street. But I just got a new set of tires, so that's over!

And of course the guages are cool. And I wet my engine the other day and it started firing horribly. So I told the edge to get the codes and it told me "misfire on cylinder 8". With the 0-60 and 1/4 run times, and all the other guages I feel like it's a purty good product. It's also internet updatable, and there are sever custom options to be displayed onscreen. I also like the fact that the screen can be adjusted to ANY color! Any color from white to black. It also comes with a cool pod that makes it look kinda stock. It installs in 30 seconds. It programs in about a minute or two. It's conveniently located to retrieve codes, and most importantly, change tunes if you need to pull something. I like it. $400 worth? Well, you'll have to decide.

until the edge is released, i would pick the xcal over everything else (period) on the market

but from my impressions beta testing the edge, playing with my buddys troyer xcal (yes im not talking out my ***), and my old superchips 1715, i would recommend pickin the edge over all else once it is released . . .

The edge for the 04+ trucks is awsome and it's pod looks a lot cooler. I really wish I had a newer truck. I wouldn't have the truck without the edge!

Once the Edge is released it will be a GREAT product. Between the guages and the custom tuning options I cannot imagine anyone who would be dissappointed. I definitely recommend the Edge, but it is your $400 spend it however you want.

I am surprised that Edge is already releasing these to the public. I am still having some slight issues with my beta unit.

id be pretty wary of anybody who claims to have em in stock

youre either 1) not gettin em 2) gettin units with beta software. its a risk but id hold off till everyones problems are sorted out

Ok, why don't you tell us what you would call it when someone starts selling a product before all the bugs are worked out?

I'm going to lose A LOT of respect for them, if they are in fact shipping the products. I have seen a lot of places advertising them, but none have any in stock.

Have a link for Discount Power Parts?

That is a good short-term view of business. Bad rep will kill future sales. The smart move is to hold off and ship a product that works.

Yeah, well the edge site says "Now shipping!" And I called a couple shops here in Western Oregon where I live and they said that Edge was telling them the end of July (Right now) or the beginning of August for expected arrival. So we'll see. I'm still debating between the $400 for the tuner or the $400 for an Xbox 360. Not to reflect my age of 18 or anything. But I'm pretty sure I will stick with it and wait for the tuner. Nothing can compare to the amount of fun I have working on/ upgrading things on my truck. I'm sure you all agree.

Hoping to put new, bigger tires and wheels on it soon as well.
