The deciding factor for me was the fact that I got a $400+ chip for waaaaay less than that. Now, if I was buying it new, I'd still get the Edge, because you get so much more than you do with the XCal2. Think about it. The XCal just plugs in, tunes, and you're done. The Edge does that, and it also adds four gauges of your choice, plus you get all of the performance tests too.

How many people do you know that have them? And I haven't had any trouble with my unit since it has been updated.

Maybe, but we live in the small world of "f150online.com" the ammount of people that come to this site is probably an insignifigant portion of Edge's sales. So that statement may or may not be false. Look at Wall Mart for example. They sell CRAP. But does it hurt their sales? No. I haven't had any trouble with my updated edge. It has worked fine for weeks. Maybe they're finished with them...

Rob also told me that their problems originated in Edge's computers. He said that all the glitches were formed during the programming of the units. He said that the alpha tests went off without a problem.

Its not a joke.
I just recieved my Edge programmer from UPS 10 minutes ago. I pre ordered mine from Discount Power Parts on July 17 and go it today. Discount Power Parts recieved their order from Edge last Friday. If you order yours now, they should ship it out this week.

I do have the unit as a Beta Tester.
2002 F150 Supercrew 4.6 Lariat 4x2

I use it and would not go back to stock. I am not much on the "performance #'s" but I do enjoy the changes very much. I have taken a few neighbors for before and after rides and their response was where do I get one. Even the wife noticed the Performance tune changes, she went to pick up dinner and took my truck her comment was hey it just seems like its want to take off and keep going. I smiled and told her I put some High Test in by accident .

ive talked to socalexpy on another site and it seems his is working perfectly and hes super happy. mine has also gone through the beta with absolutely no problems (except for the software updater issue edge had)

my concern is wtih the few people who still have problematic units. on a statistical significance scale of 90, 95%, tahts a pretty significant amount of defective units.

yep, I installed it yesturday and went out for a drive. WOW! this thing is awsome. I am very happy with it. I did notice a difference in acceleration and the shifting. I have never used a programmer before so I have nothing to compare the Edge to but i am very impressed with this unit.

I know about all the problems all you Beta testers have had and so far I have not had any of those problems. I have not been able to test level 3 yet becasue I have a full tank of 87 octane. I will let you guys know if I have any problems.

My beta unit is still at Edge getting reprogrammed. I was one of the very small percentage that could not get any tunes to upload. The system initiallized fine, and I could use all the monitors, but when I tried to upload it would freeze. They are hoping that the firmware update fixes it.

So I ordered my Edge Tuner for my 1997 4.6 liter. And just from reading what you guys have been saying in response to my initial post is it true that in order for level 3 to work right you have to be running on premium? And also, do you have to have the truck turned off in order to change power levels?

Thanks

yes you have to use premium fuel to use level 3

yes the car engine must be turned off to change levels. it only takes a few seconds though.

dont be so quick to purchase yet

ive talked to edge today and as far as the tech's know, we are still in beta and still encountering problems. im working wtih them on a speedometer tire size correction issue. power tuning and all that stuff is 100% good to go though. some other guys are hitting small issues

yes they have sent units out to distributors but as far as tech support knows, the distributors arent authorized to sell yet

once again , i still recommend against purchasing if you are looking to be 99.9% problem free . . you can still purchase at your discretion because the software is USB updatable but then again i wouldnt be giving you this advice if i didnt have reason to
