Ordered my Xcal2 and 3.25" AF1 :-)
Vegasfordman: I did indeed order the AF1 from Troyer Performance and he is also doing my custom tunes.
All the goodies were waiting for me at home last night, so I went ahead and hooked up the XCal2, read my strategy code and was able to call TP before they closed and relayed my code to them. So now I just wait until I get my tunes e-mailed to me then off I go!

And thanks for working with us on that - you just happen to have a code that gets reflashed fairly often. When we suspect a reflash, about 70% of the time we are right - and about 30% of the time we're wrong, so it's usually a good thing when we decide to send them out empty so the owner can read it and have us do tune that we *know* are the correct strategy for the truck and not deal with no-starts from a wrong code, etc.
We appreciate your patience & we'll get your tuning done ASAP!

Mike:
I had a sneaking suspicion my code was indeed reflashed, can you confirm or deny?
Update: Ack! Just got a call from Crystal saying that she hasn't heard back from me since they sent the tuner! I called up and it looks like with all the hubub up there this week my code was misplaced somewhere. Oh well, I'll e-mail the code in when I get home from work, whats a few more days wait?
Update II: Called in my code again this afternoon.... should have tunes by the end of the week (fingers crossed!)

Turns out my computer was not reflashed and still had the TEM7 on it... Good news is MY TUNES ARRIVED TODAY!!!! So on that note I'm cutting out of work 15 min early and will report back after installation of the AF1 and after I get done playing!! (if you don't hear from me by tomorrow morning, just assume I'm still playing

Yes, you were among the roughly 30% or so minority whose trucks end up not having been reflashed when we initially suspect a reflash - but better safe than sorry and get it right the first time!
Once we get the strategy read back, we get those tunes knocked out as quickly as possible, so it usually happens pretty quickly at that point. Glad to hear you got your tunes and are going to soon be enjoying them along with your new AF1!

So NCSU....What's the word on the new Tunes? I just ordered my XCal2 and AF1 w/ 3.25" today. I know the wait is going to hurt, but I'm hopeful it will be worth it. The only non-cosmetic mod I've added is the Magnaflow SIDO system which I like very much. I've put off getting the XCal/AF1 on my '05 Lariat 4x4 for the past year and a half. I figured I wanted to give the truck some time to break in. Now just 17,800 miles on it and I've grown tired of the stock throttle response and shift points. It sucks.

Tunes and intake are installed! Had a little problem with the head shearing off of one of the screws that holds the MAF sensor in place, but I'm taking care of that this weekend...
Today I'll be loading the 93 Perf tune and see how that goes.
Simply stated, this was the by far the best purchase I've made since buying the truck!! Throttle response? Damn near instant! Shifting? Shifts fast and hard! You can feel the truck push you back in the seat (and I only got the firm setting!) Power? Oh yeah, plenty! As soon as you floor it, the truck drops into Open Loop, while without the tune it would take several seconds (or running through a couple thousand RPM) for the Open Loop to kick in!
I haven't had a chance to do the data logging yet, maybe this weekend or next....
The wait wasn't too bad, but of course I can say that now that I've got eveything installed
Whatever the wait turns out to be, it's WAAAAY worth it!

Hi NCSU,
Excellent, glad to hear you got your tunes loaded up & are enjoying them.
Sorry to hear you had an issue with the MAF sensor connector - that's relatively rare, but you know what they say about Murphy's Law - Murphy lives on my shoulder!
All kidding aside, thanks for working with us & have fun!

Good point, kdds - some will have that issue, but most don't. TEM-series codes do tend to get reflashed pretty frequently for that and other reasons, and they typically get reflashed to BKP1, just as you mentioned.
In fact, the TEM4 code was *horrible* in that Ford commanded a 13.89:1 A/F ratio @ WOT on those TEM4's!! Luckily that didn't last long, as that's WAY too lean @ WOT for best power, or for towing heavy loads - with TEM5, they went back to 12.0:1 like they had been since the first 2004 5.4 3V rolled off the assembly lines. God only knows why they did that with TEM4, it's not like that was the first year of the 5.4 3V, that was the beginning of the SECOND model year of the 5.4 3V in the F-150 - but that happened nonetheless. Go figure!

Well I'm finally getting my datalogging done. I'm going to throw the ole truck on the DynoJet today at 5:00. I did my no-load data today at lunchtime to get a feel for how it works. LiveLink is pretty cool!

So how did it go?
I have an 05 screw 4x4ls 5.4 with a maggie sido and am thinking about the AF1 and XCAL2 combo. Of course I know Mike knows I've been thinking about it for awhile. I seem to be the almost sold customer.
I just keep chickening out every other 3 months.
The reason I'm thinking about it again is because every where I look they want $150 to change the speed-o-meter to account for the larger diameter tires that are on my 22s. I have to switch twice a year (winters in MN) which would be a complete waste of money.
I wonder if he'll ever do the AF1 and XCAL2 combo group buy that was brought up in the group buy section?
