Edge Timing Tuning Question

If I am running 93 octane, what kind of timing advance can I use? It moves in increments of .25 and the instructions are really not that clear.

Thx

According to Edge, you should be able to advance timing by +1 for every 2 additional points of octane. For example, Level 3 is designed for 91 octane. Since you are using 93 octane, set your timing to +1.

Of course, if you hear pinging, you should back off on the timing.

Hope this helps!

I have advanced the timing to +3.00 and still no ping, is that a high number for advancing the timing? I backed it down to +2.00 for the time being until I know more about this. I was thinking of going higher to make it ping and then back down from there....Is that a bad thing to do? The octane is 93, I am understanding that for every point of octane above the canned octane, (91) for the high performance setting I can advance the timing 1-2. So as an example I have 2 additional octane points, I can go from a minimum of +1 to +4, keeping in mind the pinging if to high, then back it down...

Also according to Bill, one of the engineers for Edge (ASEMechanic), you can also add +1 for every 2500ft above see level.

It's the other way around, for every 2 octane points you can adjust your timing 1 point. So with 93 octane on level 3 (91 tune) you can adjust your timing +1.0.

As for pinging, you can still get detonation without hearing it, thats why most cars have knock sensors, I personally wouldn't stray too far from Edge's advice.

If your running Tune#3....be prepared to get a new engine if you keep the timing at +3.00. I'd follow Edges advice.
