I PICKED A FINE TIME TO INSTALL MY SUPERCHIPS POWER PROGRAMMER, JUST AS THE GAS PRICES ROSE TO OVER $3.00 A GALLON FOR 93. IS THERE A BIG PERFORMANCE DECREASE IF I REPROGRAM TO THE 87 SETTING? AT $75.00 TO FILL MY TANK, I COULD REALLY CARE LESS ABOUT PERFORMANCE!
93 is worth the price...
So, assuming that you fill up 25 gallons per fill-up...instead of paying $75 for a tank of gas, you'll be paying $70?
The difference in gas price is from regular to premium usually hovers at about a $.20 or so (from what I've seen at gas stations from Eastern NC all the way up to Central VA). I've got my 93 tune loaded up and even as the gas prices climb, I probably won't switch back to 87 anytime soon. Increased performance and horsepower is worth the $5 per tank to me. Just my humble opinion...and everyone knows what they say about opinions. But in any case, you have to do what you and your wallet deem necessary. Happy driving.

Do the math. It's 2¢ more per mile (or a little less) for premium assuming you get the same mileage. Be careful of accelerating too slowly. A near moderate acceleration will get you to cruising speed much faster than going 1/2 mile gradually. You will use less fuel accelerating moderately to cruise than you will with very slow acceleration for a much longer duration.
Just my opinion but consider that airliners get to fuel conserving cruise altitude without delay. It takes a lot of power but throttling back to cruise then reaps tremendous rewards. Fuel cost is their primary profit thief.
Maybe I can get a $25M gov't grant to study this for a month. That should cover the gas price if the speculators continue to operate without any oversight. It's the speculators causing the rising price of oil - not OPEC.
Petroleum should be protected from the crooks in NY!

I agree with these guys. You're talking about $5 per fillup, assuming once a week, thats $20 a month to get what it is we all desire. Try filling a 30 gallon tank at $3.09 (currently) $92.70 for the full monty. Then you can suffer some more with my current average of 9.4 miles per gallon which equates into right at 300 miles on a 30 gallon tank. And you don't hear me whinin about it, I knew exactly what I was getting into. Then again, there are those boys fillin up the diesels paying well over $100
