You bringing the Vangina? LOL! I'd love to see that thing on the dyno!
"Dad" is doing fine Joe..
Your right RP....It should be a real sight seeing Vangina on the dyno. I just hope he leaves all the ladders and etc. on the racks. It wouldn't be complete without it in its original form ...
Looking forward for this event....Just don't expect Covington to be a bustling city as it is really a laid-back type of town. Facilities are adequate and the mountains surrounding it are quite breath taking if your into that type of enviroment.Should be a great weekend.
For those attending, from the East and the West on RT. 64 you will take exit 16 and the Best Western will be visible from the exit ramp. The shop is only about 1/2 mile from the Motel..Drive safely....

Hi,peoples!
Just a couple of questions.First i found a place to dyno my truck
up here in the great northeast.
PERFORMANCE DYNO of Concord New Hampshire. They deal with
SCT it seems.
So anyone in New England been looking, check them out
Xcalibrator 2 three program tuner with custom dyno tune - $$$
This includes custom dyno tune and the tuner for your '96-up
I trust them to do my tune. I would rather have Mike`s tune!
#1 should i dyno first and send you the results for a tune?
you guys and gals(dont want to leave Anita out ) go by
the PCM code?
every little bit a data(A/F) might help?
#2 if while im dynoing,is it possible to send a tune e-mail?
this is how i`m thinking
dyno first=you results=tune?
dyno again=you results=retune?
or just .. excal2=dyno=you results=retune?
The latter would save me some $$$...but $$$ vs. best result?
I dont want to step on anyones toe`s or put pressure on Mike!
Any imput Mike,or my fellow F-150ins?

Just make the trip! If i can from Michigan, you should be able to with a extra tank of fuel or so..... It should be a great time meeting the folks at Troyer Performance and other members as well.
I have a couple of general questions... I tried searching for the answers however, came up with little to nothing... it may be out there but, I didn't find it --
If one is to attend the dyno day:
1. Should you plan on having a full tank of fuel on the dyno? Half? Reasoning?
2. Better to have the truck 'hot' (as in off the road) or allow it to cool for a bit?
3. Newer fluids (oil etc), I realize, are better but, if one doesn't pull off a full fluid change or is in-between intervals, will it really make that big of a difference? Any harm or foul doing one or the other?
4. Will 'tweaks' to the XCal tunes be immediately placed on the XCal device for future use? Will it be necessary to 'dyno' the truck in each of the three tunes or will it all be 'tweakable' from the standard couple of pulls?
Hate to sound like a total newb here... just want to get a firm answer on a few things...

Hello RP.....
1. Dosen't matter really if you have a 1/4 tank, 1/2 tank, or are full.
2. If your truck is "cold" when the first dyno pull is done, it will be brought
up to operating temperature( Mike monitors this thru data-logging) before
the first pull is done.
3. Of course "everyone" should have clean fluids in thier vehicle. It dosen't
really matter as long as you don't have 10,000 miles on your oil
Most of the time one setting (tune) will tell what is up. You wouldn't want
to attempt to make a 93 octane pull on 87 octane fuel, or visa-versa.
4. Mike will make the call on adjusting the tunes in your X-Cal if he sees a
need for it. It can be done reasonably quick depending on what he thinks
it needs. But it is up to him as he is the BOSS....I guarantee you that he
will not let a vehicle leave his shop if it needs a serious adjustment...
Looking forward to meeting you RP....

Mike, Marc or anyone who knows the Covington area.
Is 93 octane gas readily available in the Covington area. I plan on arriving on fumes and filling with 93 prior to my Dyno.
I know this could easily be answered by a phone call but I thought others may have the same question. I know RP's post answered many questions I had. Thanks RP
Seems as if it's taking forever for the 8th. to get here.

I have another question about dynoing my truck. I have noticed that i have a few minor exhaust leaks where my Magnaflow clamps are not sealing tight enough. I'm going to try to tighten them up this weekend again, hopefully i won't break them. The question is that i noticed Troyer has stated No Leaks of any kind, does this apply? These are minor leaks, (leaving black marks around clamps).

Yes, we cover all the "obvious" bases, so to speak -
For example, we do not want to see a vehicle with anything less than at least 1/4 tank of fuel on board - that's just common sense, you don't want to run the tank way low when running it at full-throttle, even if it is just being run on a dyno.
Also, when we say NO exhaust leans, we mean just that - there can be NO exhaust leaks, as that will cause the A/F ratios to read incorrectly, causing them to show abnormally lean, which also causes the PCM to learn things it should not thru adaptive - so any exhaust leaks must be corrected. The problem that most people need to remember is that when dealing with stainless steel hardware like Magnaflow's clamps, use a bit of anti-seize on those threads - otherwise you end up putting more torque on them and stripping them out. Now if you have already stripped them out, just replace the bolt itself with another bolt (it doesn't have to be stainless) so you can close up the clamp properly.
Where we read the A/F's is generally going to be in one of your downstream O2 sensors bungs, by removing a downstream O2 sensor and inserting our wideband - so you cannot have any leaks in that area - now if we were sniffing the tailpipe (which we have to do on some Super Duty's) & a few other vehicles, then you cannot have any leaks even in the cat-back portion of the exhaust.
The bottom line is, no exhaust leaks, otherwise you run the risk of showing a false lean condition and the PCM will also be making corrections it should not be making, too.
Next - yes, of course we datalog the vehicle and make sure it's up to proper temps throughout the entire powertrain before & while we make pulls, and datalog each pull for accuracy & repeatability - that's dyno 101.
And yes, there are excellent quality 87, 89 & 93 octane fuels available in this area - however, I would NOT use our local Sunoco station, as for the past 1.5 years now we have had some issues with a lower energy content. Here locally, the best fuel is from Citgo, it is a consistently excellent fuel - I run it in my 18 PIS boost Lightning with no detonation whatsoever, under any conditions - that should tell you something about the quality of that Citgo fuel we have here!
I think that covers the basics, and other details please give us a call for & we'll be happy to go over everything with you.
Oh, by the way - for Rock Pick - we are most definitely looking forward to seeing you on Friday, you rascal - we're going to have a great time with your truck, you'll enjoy yourself & we're looking forward to meeting you!
Talk to you all soon,
