Question Tuners -- The V-Chip Tuner

My friend is a mechanic and suggested I install a "V-Chip" in my 05 F150. I have been reading alot on this site and have yet hear anything about it. Has anyone ever heard of the "V-Chip" brand tuner and if so any thoughts??

Can I get some of whatever your mechanic is smoking? No...lol...in all serious, I have heard of many chips/programers in my times...but the V-Chip is something new to me. When you find out what it is....share it here!

I am betting he is mistaking, and its a Jet Chip or something he is talking about.

Isn't that something you get for your TV so you can control what channels or shows your kids can watch?

V-Chip: Viewing Television Responsibly:

The FCC has adopted rules requiring all television sets with picture screens 33 centimeters (13 inches) or larger to be equipped with features to block the display of television programming based upon its rating. This technology is known as the "V-Chip." The V-Chip reads information encoded in the rated program and blocks programs from the set based upon the rating selected by the parent. [News Release on TV Set Requirements and Ratings]

Pursuant to the Commission’s rules, half of all new television models 13 inches or larger manufactured after July 1, 1999, and all sets 13 inches or larger manufactured after January 1, 2000 must have V-Chip technology. Set top boxes that allow consumers to use V-Chip technology on their existing sets are now available.

Hey man, we are just having a bit of fun WITH you...not towards you. I am sure he is just mistaken on the name, its as simple as that. Maybe he had his mind on 12 other things while he was talking to you...and a wire just crossed...lol. Find out more of what he is referring to and I tell you this....at least one of us is going to know about what he is talking about...and then the ones here that know, can tell you why it may or may not be the hot ticket for you. So fill us in, and we will take a shot at it dude!
