My vote will have to be for XCal2 and by all means have it tuned by Troyer. You will get performance and longevity... a hard combination to beat.

Ford521- No offense meant, but I don't think you have ever heard Troyer claim to meet or beat anybody's prices. He doesn't have to do that. Tuners are like most everything else in the world... you get what you pay for. Personally, I don't mind paying a little more knowing that I am getting the very best when it comes to R & D. If you wish to save a buck, that is why there are econo tuners out there. I just prefer first class to riding back in coach.

forgive me if im wrong, but the edge has nothing in it that troyer can tweak for you, its just a canned tuner, correct? so why wouldnt someone get it the cheapest they could?

Customer service. Besides, I'd bet you his pricing is pretty competitive with other vendors out there. Not to mention the fact that he is a supporting vendor that helps keep this site going.

If your Ford takes a crap, I guarantee it will be your dealer customer service that is most important to you...not Fords. If your dealer has good customer service, he also has a lot more clout with the mfr. than you do.
There are people who will say that there dealer did squat for them, and it was Ford who took care of them. That's because they chose the wrong dealer.

i dont get how that applies, are suggesting that troyer can get you better support from edge than you can get yourself from edge?

Here's an example. How many posts do you see from Mike giving people info just on these forums? Add in all the questions that he and his staff answer via phone and email. Think you'd get quicker more specific answers going to SCT?

Not at all. Don't know about Edge Customer Service. I was commenting on the importance of the customer service that you receive from the person you buy from as opposed to the manufacturer. I don't know Edge policies at all, but as a long time dealer of many things, I can assure you that most manufacturers direct customer service issues to the dealer to handle. Many will not deal with customers and insist that dealer handle all warranty issues.

I am in no way saying that applies to Edge. Just a general comment about who your real friend is when you buy something and something goes wrong.

now im confused, i could have sworn we were talking about edge here. i do think that edge knows more about their own product tha mike or any other dealer does, at least right now. as far as the X2, i think any dealer for SCT would give you support as quickly as mike, hell i know BamaChips advertised phone number is the owners cell phone!

before this gets out of hand, i wont post any more in here, i can see that it is quickly headed towards troyer vs the world, and ill take no part in it.

Why would you need customer service if the thing works right the first time?

I'm sorry you got mad and left. I was having a discussion with you about customer service from the dealer as opposed to the manufacturer.
I never mentioned Mike or anything connected to TP
I simply contend that your statement about
any customer service related to the edge would go through edge anyway
was not a viable argument when deciding where to buy your Edge.

well now i have to come back since the threads about me now apparently.

id like to see a percentage of the people who, when they found they had an edge problem, called up stylinconcepts (example) to say, hey, im getting error code A234459 on my Edge, how do i fix it? How many people other than edge would know how to answer that?

You asked the question, you got an answer. Nobody got off on Troyer vs anyone, except you.

Well, why would you buy from someone that won't provide customer support for the products they sell? Just to save a couple of dollars?

Also, what's your affiliation with Bamachips? Just curious.
