1714 ?

I just purchased a SuperChip 1714 for my 04 150 5.4.
I tow a small boat of about 2500 LB and I will never tow something over 4000 LB. Can I program my truck for the "Hi Performance" or do I HAVE to program my truck for the "Towing Perf." ? thanks

As long as you’re within the weight limitations stated in the instruction manual you’d be OK

Hi 4,

In the 1714 & 1745, you can tow up to a max of 4000lb on the 87 octane program - on the premium gas performance tune, it's really not designed for towing "significant" loads, that's what the towing program is for - so if you want to use premium gas and tow, then use the premium gas towing program. Otherwise you can just use it's 87 octane tune and tow that 2500 lb load.

Good luck!

You’ll still get at least that much with the tow-preferred premium fuel tune * you got the 3-valve! Check out this web page of Mike’s, it might help clarify your question

Hi 4,

If I understand your question correclty - No, obviously you are not going to get a 10% increase on peak HP running only 87 octane fuel - that happens only when running premium fuels.
