Hi Iron Horse,

No problem at all. I don't think anyone here took that the wrong way, heck, we all kid each other around here about not having a life because we're hanging out here. We're also getting pretty good at making each other feel better about hanging out here, which is basically what I was doing in that response.

That is one of the best analogies/descriptions I've ever heard for this site, that it's an "interactive truck magazine," well said indeed! It's amazing what an education one can get here in just 30 days time, and by the time someone has been actively participating here daily (like you do) for about 90 days or so, by then they usually feel like a genius compared to how they felt about their overall Ford truck knowledge when they first came here.

I've already responded to PhatNav as well, and he's got an attention-getting thread title, so as long as it's on the 1st page it'll be seen no problem. Very nice fellow (with a beautiful Navigator), looks like he needs to get in for a service visit ASAP, & hope that all goes well for him.

Thanks for your post as always,

Cool

HI!... Well I got a few more "VICTIMS" the last few days.

1ST - Was a guy in his 40's who though his new FORD WINDSTAR was fast. After 3 tries he realized it was'nt.

2ND - Was a bunch of young kids in a BERETTA GT that was all riced out with neon lights and that sort of crap. They tried to run me from a red light. The time they got across the intersection I was about 6 truck lengths ahead of them. They gave up after that. The funny thing is that I left the light at 1/4 throttle and never went past 1/2!LOL!

3RD - Was a young kid in a older style DODGE INTREPID. He tred to run me from a light. He lost ....... BAD! lol!

4TH - Now the best for last ........

Here in WINDSOR we have a huge car show every THURSDAY at the WINDSOR MARKET SQUARE. Well I was running late from work so the time I got there almost everybody had gone home or out cruising. I decided to cruise around for a couple of hours to give the truck a workout. See... I just got my new exhaust system on a few days before and was itching to get a run. My truck now is the fastest it has ever been yet. The exhaust REALLY woke it up. I got a TON of lowend torque back and even more midrange/topend. I can easily leave 50 ft of rubber on the ground from a dead stop, now. It's quite a handfull to try to launch now.

Well on to the race. I was cruising down the main strip when I saw 3 "65" CHEVY II's romping around with each other. All 3 cars were identical from the outside except foe colour. There was also some kid in some kind of RICED out JAPANESE car trying to keep up with them hoping for a race I guess. Well the CHEVY's turn off on to the road where 90% of my races happen. So I decide to follow. This road is 3 lanes wide, and is all concrete. There are 3 lights on this road and all are about a 1/4 mile apart from each other. Well when I turned I got right into the far left lane and stayed there. The black "65" stayed in the middle lane and the blue and white "65"s were behind each other in the far right lane. The ricer got RIGHT up on my butt at the light. Well the CHEVY's were ignoring us all together and throwing revs and tire chirps at each other. Well I was'nt sure these guys were going to race or not because they all seemed to be in their late 50's or early 60's. Obviously all friends. The light turned green and I left normal. I moved about 1 foot when the dark BLUE "65" next to me jumped on it. It was just instinct I guess because I never even had a chance to think about it, but I punched it. I got a have decent launch. The time I reacted, the "65" had a full car length on me. He went through his 4-speed and I went through my auto. He never pulled on me at all and neither did I. It was a excellent race. I just wish I could of known he was going to race for sure, because it would of been a really close race. The ricer was left in the dust by about 15 car lengths and the other 2 "65"s were a bit farther back. During the race the passenger in the blue "65" was looking over his shoulder at me and telling the driver to go faster. He could'nt!LOL!. At the next light the driver gave me this weird look and I made my left turn. I think he is still wondering how a huge pick-up truck was keeping up with him. lol!

All I can say is this new exhaust system I installed has REALLY woke this truck up BIG TIME. In my guess's, I would estimate that I have picked up towards 40FT/LBS of torque and 25-30H.P (FLYWHEEL). Since MONDAY I have gone through 2 tanks of gas just enjoying driving around with all my new power. Where ever there was a "HOLE" in my power band it is now filled. Can't wait to get back to the track in the SPRING.

Sounds like your exhaust system is awesome!! In the near future, I am going to go all magnaflow, and I havent decided on shorty or long tubes, but I want it too look like this, all having it exit before the rear tire like the Lightnings. I dont know, but I think I will have to make the left bank cross over behind the transmission, I dont know, any input?? And should I do 2 mufflers or a DI/DO?

HI!... BEASTIE : The drawing on the right is a EXACT duplicate of the system I designed for my truck. I'll try to post some pics as soon as I can get them developed. If you can, by all means get a "X" pipe. Since the driver's side exhaust has farther to go since it has to be routed over to the passenger's side (fuel tanks in the way on the driver's side) The "X" pipe will help in equalizing the exhaust pulses. This in turn, will give you much needed low end power and torque. If you plan on street racing or going to the dragstrip alot, I would strongly suggest you go with long tube headers and have then CERAMIC COATED. My new system is TOTALLY stainless steel, from the long tube headers right down to the nuts, bolts, lock washers, and I even hand fabricaed a custom muffler hanger out of stainless steel.

HI!... Well just got home and got a few more "VICTIMS" tonight.

1ST - "2002" DODGE INTREPID, v-6, auto. He tried to race me from a red light. I raced him up to the top of my 1ST gear. By that time I had about 5 truck lengths on him and I shut it down and he gave up.

2ND - Was a really old F-100 (84?) stepside, 300-6 cylinder 4-speed. Let's just say it was'nt even close. I think I wasted my gas on that run!LOL!

Thanks for the help Neal, where does your drivers side exhaust actually crossover ot the otherside of the truck? In the stock location or after the transmission?

HI!... BEASTIE : Because my truck is a short box, reg-cab, it was a VERY tight fit. I had to cut the mufflers and the cats down as short as possible. The "X" pipe had to be extended so that the mufflers could be mounted side by side. Even with the mufflers touching each other the "X" pipe is not wide enough to have both flanges line up. They are off by about a 1/2 inch. So I cut the "X" pipe flanges on one end at a 45 degree angle and did the same to one side of the muffler's flanges. Then I added a 2.5 inch section of straight tubing in between them and had it TIG welded together. You will see what I mean once I post some pics. Should be by next weekend hopefully. All I can say is that I have had the following exhaust system set-ups and by far this current one is the absolute best one.

- stock manifolds, stock cats, 1 FLOWMASTER 3 chamber muffler with stock tailpipe.

- stock manifolds, stock cats, true dual exhaust with 2 three chamber FLOWMASTER mufflers, exiting out like the LIGHTNING.

- JBA shorty headers, stock cats, true dual exhaust with 2 three chamber FLOWMASTER mufflers, exiting out like the LIGHTNING.

CURRENT SET-UP :

- JDM/KOOKS long tube equal length stainless steel ceramic coated 1-5/8 headers, MAGNAFLOW high flow S/S cats, MAGNAFLOW S/S "X" pipe, MAGNAFLOW S/S mufflers, MAGNAFLOW S/S 3" polished exhaust tips, "BURN'S" 2.5" S/S tubing and four mandrel bent 90 degree bends. All hardware is S/S including the exhaust hangers. Entire system is TIG welded using S/S rod.

Thanks for the help Neal, Probably once I start college, and see how the $$ flow is , I will do a full system just like you have. Until then, I am going to go with ASP underdrive pulleys, Electric fans, me and Mike have to figure out what will fit on the old radiator, Optima Yellow top, and a transgo kit on lvl 1.

Neal should make a horsepower bank.... you know so when cars get old or asethmatic, they can come and get a horsepower transfusion.

Man, this has to be the longest thread ever, anywhere.

I wish that my years of drag racing were as fortunate as yours Neal. I seem to be the "victim" more.

Do you have some six sense that lets you know which cars, trucks, have "POSI"

HI!... DOCDAVE22 : Just to answer your question. I don't have a "6TH SENSE". 90% of the people I race stop and chat either at the next light or in a parking lot near by. Or by general I can tell if it's got posi or not by the type of vehicle it is or just simple watch the vehicles rear tires while they launch from different lights before we actually race.

How can you watch those rear tires from soooo... many truck lengths ahead?

Just picking at you dude. I'm just jealous b/c nobody around here street races anymore. The cobra hasn't had any action in months and my truck hasn't raced anything yet.

Neal, I'm just picking your brain, but do you know any free mods for the old windsor engines, something like the TPS mod that you did on your 5.4?
