Hi S-76 & Neal,

I'll say a big AMEN! to that! I have to admit that I worry about my good friend Neal and those frequent top-speed runs he makes. All it takes is for 1 thing to go wrong, a tire to deflate, or hit a rough expansion joint, at speeds of 130+ mph, and it could very easily be all over. I know Neal can drive very well, that isn't the point, it's the *unexpected* that gets you.

And to Neal, it is not at all uncommon to see those V-6 Contours run well in excess of 140 mph with the Superchip. I'm sure you were a bit shocked when you saw that he had more top-end than you did, even as badly as you out-accelerated him, eh? Well, you could probably fit 3 Contours into the aero "hole" you punch thru the air with that truck!

I'm sure your friend with the Contour is pretty happy with his performance, that is some *very* serious top speed he has there now. Neal, **please** make sure he has the proper speed-rated tires on that Contour ( make him go for the Z-rated!), we don't want to read any tragic stories about him, or you for that matter!

HI!... Well guys, I got two more "VICTIMS" this week.

1ST - A woman about 30 in a 85-90 CAMARO, 305, 5-SPEED. We were at a red light and when it turned green, she dropped the clutch and floored it. I waited till she got about 1.5 truck lengths on me and then ROLLED into the throttle. At the top of 1ST gear I flew by her and kept going. As I was pulling on her I was looking in my side mirror and could see that she was still trying to race because there was a ton of black smoke coming out of her tail pipes every shift she made. I shut my truck down when I hit 100MPH. At that point she was about 15 truck lengths behind me. What a joke!LOL!


2ND - Was a guy in a mid "90's" CHEVY, EC, 5.7, AUTO, 1500 SERIES truck. We were at a red light. He was in right lane, I was in left. About a 1/4 mile ahead the two lane road drops down to just the right lane due to construction. This guy actually thought he was'nt going to let me get in front of him. MAN! Was he in for a surprise!LOL! This guy started creeping before the light turned green. I just stayed where I was. The light turned green and he floored it getting a pitiful sqeel from his tires. I hit the throttle just enough to get next to him. I let him think he was slowly pulling on me. Then I dropped it into 1ST gear, engine went to 5500RPM hit 2ND real fast chirped both tires went sideways and yanked him about 2 truck lengths in about 1 second flat!LOL! He was already to the boards!LOL! The funny thing is, as soon as he heard my rpms hit high, he totally let off. I walked right by him easily. Oh well another CHEVY owner humbled!LOL!

 

Neal, to bad your not in Calgary right know. We had an import show here with about 600 imports from all over Canada. So we have them all over the road. All I've been doing is racing all weekend. Every light I pull up to there a different ricer that needs to be burnt. After I took the HD out for some chinese food I went home and grabed the Rousch to really show these ricers what it all about. What a fun weekend. Over the weekend I was probobly involved in about 25 to 30 races through out my city. Just completely nuts. (Noticed last night the cops had a ton of radar). Only lost 2 times also. Lost once in the HD to a older Civic hatchback. looked like an 89. He was rollin with a bunch of other civics and after i pulled up beside them all they let this guy come up front and race me. He was fast, fast enough to make me think he had spray. They also had there camera out. I tryed at the end of the race to give him the thumbs up. He just looked away like he's the ****. So my buddy riding passenger fingured the punk and spit at his car. Funny to see all the azians just flipping out. Probobly gonna find my truck blowin up tommmorow but what ever. The kid needs to learn some respect for other car entusiast.
The second race I lost was in the Rousch against a MR2 TT. Lots of mods. INclusing No2. I raced him twice on a deserted industrial road. He destroyed me the firsat race. Bad launch. The second race I pulled him. Fast cars though.

You would have had fun though neal.

Well said, indeed!

And if you think it's fun to read about Neal's exploits, you should hear some of the conversations that he and I have had over the years, Neal cracks me up!

He has pioneered a number of things on that truck os his, and he takes things to the extreme. Like when he got his headers, they weren't up to his standards, so he has them completely broken apart, hand ported & polished inside & out, then welded back together, then all the welds ground down, smoothed, & polished again, etc., he doesn't miss a trick.

If a modification on someone else's vehicle makes 11 horsepower, Neal will find a way to get 11.3 horsepower from that same mod.

A true drag racer at heart, that's Neal!

MIKE T : Don't worry, I'm used to people talking about me, usually the guy I just smoked in a street race!LOL! I've been busy today at my storage garage taking apart that 5.4 crate engine I bought. Just getting it ready for PROJECT : "SMOKE EVERYBODY" that should be done for 2003. Can't really get into deatal about what I'm doing TOP SECRET, but let's just say it involves a 700H.P+ 5.4 2-valve engine. lol!!!!! I'M NOT TELLINGGGGGGGG!lol!

 

You really crack me up. I think we should all pitch in $25.00 a piece so we can send Neal on a North America wide tour . . . I'd love to see him show up in PG even for one night . . . what a blast it would be to see him waste all these people.

By where I live, there are about 25 ppl who race on a 2-3 mile strip of flat, 2 lane, straight road at 2 am.

 

HI!... Well guys it's been a while but I got a few more "VICTIM'S" this weekend.

1ST one was a young kid in a "RICED UP" late '90's" EAGLE TALON, TURBO, 5-SPEED. IZZY EDDY and I were out cruising around when I saw this kid in this RICER flying through traffic trying to catch up with me. I moved over at a red light to make it so he could get next to me. He pulled up even with me and started reving his engine slightly. I was'nt sure if he totally wanted to race or not. The light turned green and I left normal at about 1/4 throttle. He left at the same pace. Just as we got about half way through the intersection, he dropped it , ans so did I! I pulled on him by about half a truck length, but by the top of 1ST gear he was right beside me. I hit 2ND gear with a loud tire chirp and started pulling on him. By half way through my 3RD gear I had him by about 4 truck lengths. He shut down and gave up. At the next light I was making a left hand turn and he was going straight. As we were sitting next to each other at the light, I could see him and his buddy looking my truck over trying to figure out how I just spanked his a$$!lol!


2ND one was a young kid in a early "90's" GEO STORM, 5-SPEED. This car was just plain butt ugly! The kid had painted the lower ground effects and rear spoiler MUSTARD yellow and the rest of the car was black! Well he was riding my a$$ down a single lane road due to construction. So at the next red light I took my time leaving when it turned green. He must of been about 2 inches off my back bumper! At about 35MPH, I dropped it int 1ST gear and took off like a bat out of hell. I hit 2ND gear right away and go a bit side ways!LOL! This stupid fool thought he could keep up with me! He fell SO far behind it was'nt even funny. Then at the next red light he got next to me a was reving his little motor trying to challenge me to a dragrace! The light turned green and I put my foot to the floor and put him about 15 truck lengths behind me the time I hit the top of 3RD gear. He turned off before getting next to me again.


3RD one was the best of all. IZZY EDDY and I were still cruising around, when these two young kids in a very modified older FORD PROBE GT start riding my a$$. So IZZY and I are next to eachother at a red light. The PROBE is behind me very close. The light turnes green and I leave normal with the PROBE on my butt. Same senario! 35MPH and I drop into 1ST and take off. He tried to keep up and was actually doing a pretty good job of it but we had to slow down for up coming traffic. He got in front of IZZY and paced next to me for a couple of miles. I just went the speed limit because I knew this area was full of cops and I did'nt want to get caught street racing. He got bored with me and dropped his PROBE into 1ST gear got a big chirp into 2ND gear and then another chirp into 3RD gear and a small one going into 4TH! Right there I knew he had a 'LITTLE" bit of TURBO modifications done to his car. You could hear the turbo in normal driving whining like a supercharger almost. Well this kid was about 10 cars in front of us in traffic. He saw that IZZY and I were making a right turn up at the next street, so he jumped over a few lanes and turned right also. After the turn he drove REAL slow that I would catch up with him. I drove normal speed. Now, this road we are now on is a 3 lane wide road. IZZY took the middle lane, I was in the far left and the PROBE took the far right. The light turned green and we were off!!!!! I went right to half throttle and got a bad launch, and started spinning BAD! I just punchedit and rode it out. The time I got across the intersection I started to hook pretty good. I figured my bad launch was going to hurt me but I was still 2 truck lengths in front of the PROBE. I reved out 1ST, hit 2ND gear HARD and went through 3RD up to about 115MPH! I beat the PROBE by about 5 truck lengths. We pulled up to the next red light. I rolled down my passenger window and gave him the THUMBS up. He was HYPER as hell. He started yelling " WOW, THAT TRUCK MOVES" and "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO IT?" All I said was that I had headers and a exhaust. He said sarcastingly, "YA! AND ALL I GOT IS A MUFFLER"lol! His pasenger was just laughing about the whole race! He asked if I wanted to race again? I said yes. The light turned green and this time I got a good launch. I took him by 3.5 truck lengths right out of the hole and kept pulling on him all the way through 3RD gear. We were going up a hill at this point and STUPID me not paying attention to what was going on in front of me, instead I was watching the PROBE in my , mirror. All of a sudden I notice the PROBE slow down suddenly. I figure he just gave up. As I look up from my mirroe, I notice a police car on the side of the road giving someone a speeding ticket. Both cops were ou of the car talking to the driver of the car. I went right by then at about 175KPH in a psted 70KPH zone! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Well about 400 feet from the cops I hit a red light. I was far enough away from them that they could'nt get my plate #, because it was also 1:00A.M and pitch black. The kids in the PROBE pull up next to me *****ting their pants and take a right turn on to the expressway. Now that was a stupid thing to do to evade the cops. I on the other hand left normal from , my now green light and waited till I got about a mile away and then nailed 130MPH down some old farm roads and took off back to my house! The funny thing is that all 3 of these races happened within about 25 minutes in total in one simple cruise!LOL!


P.S : IZZY and I went to GRAND BEND DRAGSTRIP this weekend to watch "WINDSOR DAY". This is where they have a competition to see who actually has the fastest street legal car in WINDSOR. So just to give you some kinf og idea how fast some of the street cars around WINDSOR are, the winner was JIM POLLIER with a "72" NOVA running 9.60E.T N/A and runner up was my buddu CHRIS in a 90 MUSTANG going 9.80E.T N/A. CHRIS still had a 250 BIG SHOT NOS kit he could of run! Mabey when I finish RE-BUILDING my RANGER, I'll enter this race and show them how it's done!LOL!

Thanks for calling the other day, when we got disconnected I tried to call you back several times, but the line was busy, so I figured you were on the 'Net.

Looks like you got very lucky not getting nailed for blowing by law enforcement at 100 kph over the limit! Around here, I think they put you in jail for that.

Besides, we have to watch for deer out here in the mountains, sometimes even on the Interstate. We might get a chance to nail a high speed very briefly, but no way we can make routine 135+ mph blasts like you do up there. Or may be I'm getting too old?

Hmm ... Mike getting too old ... ... Naaaa, not going to touch that !!! BUT if you are getting too old for this stuff Mike, let me know. I might be interested in the Silver Bolt when you're done !! When I saw the cops there, I changed lanes to get in behind Neal so they couldn't see his licence plate. Didn't think though that they might have gotten my plate. Geez, I hope not.

That's OK, you can feel free to go right ahead & say it, I *know* I'm getting too old!

It really is amazing how much more conservatively I drive now, like many of us change as we get older. It's not that I don't like speed now, I like it even more. It's just that now I'm more aware of the consequences and actually have more driving skills, so I've stopped taking many of the kinds of chances that I used to. At one time, what we used to do made Neal's current exoploits sem tame by comparison, so I'm, not innocent lamb, by any means, I;ve done moire than my share. These days, I usualy only do a top speed run with some assistance from a friend, so to speak.

Fast, you're right, I forgot about Neal havig DSL.

your exploits as I need some tax relief. We just
tripled our traffic fine structures the Governor
said it was to make up shortfalls in the budgets.
I always suspicioned it was for revenue not public
safety as has always been publicized. Will try
to keep it under 65.
