Custom programming for shift kit
So with the beers and banging your head, how bad it the dent in the fender from your fist when you realized what you did?
Mike,
There's somehting else Performance Products might add to the Superchip package, a Superchip Installation Hardhat, with a warning of course.
Thanks for your email too Morley, it was good to hear that the first reprogram was well worth it but you realized what you were really after. Now I know that if I too try to break my seat back with my head when it shifts, I may want to go the reprogram level *phase 2* or a shift kit too.

If you already have a superchip and then you get a level 10 shift kit put in... WATCH OUT. can you say WHIPLASH!!! Especially if you have a custom program with hard shifts.
I was going to do the custom program but I didn't want to deal with the "NOT" just in case it didn't work.
hence why I ordered a level 10 for $139 and I'm having my mechanic friend install it for me for free
Just gonna cost me some money for ATF and all.

man, this new site is hard to get used to..
Anyway,
Results....
well I have to say that again, I am not satisfied with the results of the custom program...
In fact, my truck runs worse with this 2nd program.. Maybe its just my truck, I dont know, but I know that the 1st custom program ran better.
Still far from chirping 1-2.
I'm rather quite disapointed, as this was well overated.
I think that I will send it back to Mike to go back to my 1st custom programmming.
This in my honest opinion, is not worth it.
If anyone who has a 4x4, and wants hard shifts,
hard enough to chirp 1-2, by all means, go with
a real shift kit. The chip just wont cut it..
Our trucks are just to damn heavy.
I was hoping to not have to post this, but I feel
other consumers from the boards should be informed from my experience. Nothing against you Mike. Just
not to expectations, and not performing like it was
rated to be.
Till then,
Ride it like you stole it.

Hi Morley,
You've not mentioned any of this to us, but be that as it may, I do have a few comments..............
First, of course I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy with the results of raising that line pressure even further, and we're of course happy to return you to your previous program, just as we told you we would if you weren't happy. We're more than happy to do just about anything withint reason to make you happy.
However, you cannot say that you were mislead or that this was "overrated" to you in any way, shape, or form. That simply is not true, and that is evident in our posts to you in this thread, in our numerous emails & phone conversations.
You were told that most of these trucks will get a nice little chirp on the 1-2 with this type of custom program, and that a few have even done this once in a great while on the 2-3. You were also told that not *all* vehicles will do that! There are far too many variances possible for this to ever be a 100% tire-chirper, Morley, and we went over that *quite* clearly, up front, long before we ever did the first change.
Just to remind you of a little bit of what we discussed up front about all of this, one of the things we see on a few of these vehicles is that the orifice size in the PCS (pressure control solenoid) can sometimes be a few thousandths too small, and if that happens, then it cannot flow enough fluid *volume* at the significantly higher line pressures used in that type of custom program. We discussed the fact that in some cases, you can actually end up with a *softer* shift when that much line pressure is dialed into the program, and if that happens, that tells us that it's due to it not being able to flow enough fluid *volume* at the higher line pressure, and that mechanical modifications would be required to do so. We went over all of that and much more, Morley, we spent *hours* talking about all of this between our posts in email, and over the phone.
You may think it's your job to "warn" everyone of your experience, but you might also want to remember that you were told all of this up front, Morley, those are the facts. At no time were you ever mislead, or told anything that was less than 100% candid by us. In fact, anytime we have a situation like this, we save all emails, all written communications, etc. This was *not* in any way "overrated" to you, Morley, that is very clear in the written record of our numerous communications, which I have taken the time to review before responding to you here.
OK, let's get away from all that, and look at the facts, the end results, as ultimately, that is what matters...................
You certainly *can* fairly say you're not happy with your results, and I'd be the very first to *AGREE* with you!
Our goal here was very clear, to get your tranny to shift hard & quick enough to chirp the tires on the full-throttle 1-2 upshift, and that was not achieved. That being the case, you certainly do have a right to be disappointed with the results, heck, we're disappointed for you!
And we're of course happy to return you to your previous program, or do just about anything else within reason to make you happy.
Please try to remember Morley, while we understand your disappointment and we feel the same way, you were told all of this up front, we discussed the extremes and the in-betweens, and at no time were you ever mislead, Morley.
If you want to return to your previous program, all you need to do is to contact *us*, and we'll be happy to make the arangements ASAP!
Have a great 4th of July, & I hope to talk with you soon!

Ok Mike,
I understand Mike,
I will test it out for another week or so Mike,
Just to see if it improves at all Mike,
If it doesn't improve Mike, I will contact you to send it back to go back to my previous program Mike.
Thanks Mike,
Talk to you later Mike

Hi Morley,
Thanks for your response, as always!
This is entirely up to you Morley, and of course we'll do anything we can within reason to make you happy, whether it's returning you to your previous program, etc.
One thing that might help this a bit, or at the very least, help us to understand what your results are, is if we could talk about this over the phone. Perhaps you can describe what you're experiencing, how it feels, etc., as that might help us make a recommendation with regards to whether this is something that is an error that is correctable (which I kinda doubt, but it does happen sometimes), or whether you're going to be better off with the previous program, etc. If you'd like to let us know about what's going on and how the shifts feel now, we'd love to hear from you, as always. If you'd like to call us when you have time to talk and then we'll call you right back so it's on our dime, that's perfectly fine, so please don't hesitate, ok?
All the best & hope to speak with you soon,

Hi EVO & Tweaker,
Good point fellows, some of my replies are indeed rather lengthy.
It's important to us that there be clear understanding, especially in situations like this, etc., and sometimes that takes a bit of typing.
I've also run many message boards & forums for many years off and on, on commercial online services like CompuServe & others, and that usually required detailed explanations in some areas, etc. as well.
Many is the day I thank whoever it was that planted the idea in my head to take typing in high school so we could hang out with the ladies in what was mostly a female course in those years.

Well, after 2 more weeks of having the ship,
I have to say that It has improved quite significantly.
However, still no chirping 1-2 up,
After pulling a smokeshow, my tires were nice and soft,
I was able to chirp 1-2 up, but other than that. Nothing at all.
Like I said, the chip shifts harder than it did when I first dropped
it in there. Usually the programs I've had, worked 90% of theyre
efficiency right away. But this one took a couple of weeks to
significantly improve.
To date, I like to program, but still want more..
I need a chirp on 1-2 up, and possibly 2-3 up.
Looking into Bauman now.
Cheers everyone.
