Victories and Defeats, Part 4
Hey Moose-man,
We've heard it said that any victory qualifies as a "kill" ("kill" in the context used here on F-150 Online), so sure, I'm betting that Neal would count that.
A win is a win!
Have fun,

I think someone in the last century beat a nun in a wheelchair.
That too was counted.. As long as you are in front at the end of the race.

Kind of blurry, but this is me and my car
This is my new car
Mike,
No apologies needed. I am glad you corrected me. I have never owned a GM before. That’s why I didn't know there was more than one LT1 engine. I knew my patrol vehicle had the LT1 in it. I knew the Corvette was the LT1 engine. I thought they were the same. Oh well; now I can't brag about having a corvette engine anymore

The first picture is my favorite spot to get speeders. Sorry guys, can't tell you where it is...lol

fast54triton,
If you read in the above posts I have had that car in the 150's mph. And it to felt like it was on air. I don’t know if the speedo is off at that speed but it was movin. Believe it or not I would rather have the Crown Vic. I think they are much better cop cars. My Capri breaks down every week for one thing or another. The Capri also sets lower then the Crown Vic. This is not always good for law enforcement. Sometimes we have to go off road and treat them like 4x4's. The Capri will bottom out very easy. Also Ford has been in the police car business for a long time. I think that’s why GM got beat out. They know what we like and what works. Except for where the gas tank is they do a good job. I'm sure if GM would have stayed in the market with the late model Capri they would have been good cars. They just needed to work some bugs out. We had high-speed vehicle training about a month ago. Every Capri got broke and dead lined. They all heat up very bad. With Tucson Temps this is not good. Today was 101 and its only May. Only 2 fords broke on us. And this was with about 30 cars. 20 of them were Fords. In my opinion, yes the Capri is a fast car. The Ford is much more reliable. Fast can't help you if you can't get there. Have fun and be safe.

Hi Tucson Truck & Fast,
Yes, those 9C1 Caprices do overheat, they blow transmissions (front pump bushings primarily, as the '94 & early '95 versions of that GM 4L60E cannot take much over 5000 rpm without blowing front pump bushings, GM finally redesigned the 4L60E and took care of that mid-'95 model year. The 4L60E in my 1994 Corvette blew it's front pump bushings back then too, then my '95 Corvette was fine and rock-solid reliable in the tranny.
You guys are dead on the money, as you should be with your experience of course, in the common failures of that last GM police package in a full-size sedan, and now of course GM no longers makes a full-size sedan available with a true certified "police package"
So the Crown Vic is really the only full-size sedan made with a police package for a few years now, and there are *many* of them out there. Now Ford just needs to get you guys the power you really need in that Crown Vic!
And Fast, for the 9C1 Caprices that had a top speed limiter, it was set at 130 mph. The reason for this, as I outlined in one of my posts above, is so that the agencies would not have to spend more $$$ for tires with speed ratings above 130 mph, to save money. I can't tell you how many departments have told us that, and it sure angers the officers who occasionally need more speed.
Yes, I'd like to have the fastest vehicle made, but I'd much rather see law enforcement have the fastest reliable package that the automaers can really make, if they only would.

fast54triton,
Yes, you are very right. The Capri has a lot of overheating problems. That leads to a lot of other problems and so on. You are right about the suspension to. I have had every piece of that car replaced at one time or another. And its not just my car, all the Capri's in the department have the same problems. We only have the 95's, and yes they are old for police cars. We have Fords just as old and they do not have any of the problems the Capri's do. I'm so glad I got a Ford now. I wish they would put the 5.4 in it. Even more, could you imagine if they put a lighting engine in it...wooohooooaaaa. That would be fun. I can only wish.
